Job description

Job Summary:
  • Prepare and dispense all medications timely and accurately.
  • Provide drug information to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians.
  • Assist in training of pharmacy students and technicians.
  • Comply with all federal and state rules and regulations pursuant to distribution of medications.
  • Assist in drug use evaluation and quality assurance activities when requested.
  • Take an active role in participation of clinical duties in the pharmacy.
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a minimum of a bachelor's of science in pharmacy. Eligible for or currently licensed to practice pharmacy by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. Parenteral certification and active controlled substances license are required.
Experience:
One year of experience in hospital pharmacy or equivalent training during clinical rotation portion of pharmacy school.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must have effective communication skills and good interpersonal relationships with staff members. Use of pharmacy software and other computer skills are preferred.
