Job description

Established in 1919 and traded on the NYSE, Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive replacement parts utilized in the maintenance, repair, and service of vehicles in the automotive aftermarket. Additionally, SMP provides customized solutions for vehicle control and thermal management products in diversified end markets represented by its Engineered Solutions segment.
Globally, SMP employs over 6,000 employees across nearly 40 manufacturing, distribution, and engineering facilities and offices located in North America, Europe and Asia. SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.
Ongoing purchase order generation of materials and components that meet the quality standards of Standard Motor Products Inc. Assume full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely delivery of goods within budget and/or standard costs. Rely on system knowledge and judgement to accomplish goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company
  • Set-up and maintain material, supplier and planning system data in the MRP/ERP system
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of goods, services and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements
  • Determine material requirements from production schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials through production cycle
  • Take on special assignments as warranted, such as projects to adjust delivery schedules to meet new customer demand or supply new DCs
  • Work with Receiving, Packaging and Shipping departments to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Conducts business at the highest ethical standard

REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years planning experience
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and informative manner through all correspondence
  • Direct experience with MRP/ERP systems (JDEdwards preferred)
  • Data extrapolation / identify trends
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
