Position Summary

While the system is monitored in a Central Control Room (CCR) via a Facilities Monitoring & Control system (FMCS), the Shift Operations Technician will be dispatched to the field to physically investigate as first responders. The operations technician will also operate and check on a variety of electrical equipment such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), Diesel Generators, Transfer Switches, Breakers, and more. Another basic function of the shift electrician is to perform basic preventative maintenance on distribution system equipment: taking thermal readings performing corrective maintenance, and more.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Customerfacingelectricaldeviceoperationsandtroubleshooting.
• Tourelectricalroomandidentifyanyabnormalconditions.Performroutine6Sinspection.
• Minorpreventativeandcorrective/breakdownmaintenance.Updateactivitiesinanequipmentmanagementsystemforworkperformed.
• Inspectelectricalsystems,equipment,orcomponentstoidentifyhazards,defectsortheneedforadjustmentandrepair,andtoensurecompliancewithNECandjobsitespecifications
• Workfromladders,scaffolds,roofs,insidecleanrooms,highnoiseareasandhotenvironmentstoinstall,maintain,orrepairelectricalwiring,equipment,orfixtures.
• Performtroubleshootingofrelaycontrols,variablefrequencydrives(VFD),motorcontrolcenters,synchronousdrives,andmore.
• Escortvendors/contractors/non-electricalemployeesintoelectricalrooms.
• Respondtocentralcontrolroom(CCR)requestsforsitealarmsorsite/fabissues.
• CompleteQualifiedElectricalWorker(QEW)basedtrainingthatisrequiredtoperformelectricalworkatsite.
• TakepartinSafetyandQualityactivitiestoimproveonsiteperformance.
• Beanactivecontributortositeelectricalsafetyimprovementsandimprovetheteam'sNEC/NFPA70Elevelofknowledge.
• Takepartinshiftpassdown,whichshouldinclude,butnotlimitedto:actionsperformedduringshift,anyabnormalconditions,andoutstandingactionitems.
• Providetechnicalassistanceandcoachingtojuniorteammembersasneededtoimproveoveralllevelofknowledgeandjobsatisfaction.
• Identifyandescalateanyprocedural,equipment,andpersonnelitemsrequiringsupervisorormanagementattention.
• UseInfraEquipmentManagementSystem(iEMS)totrackrepairsandpreventativemaintenance.
• Establishandwritepolicies,proceduresandguidelinesforplantoperationsandmaintenance.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

• Minimum7yearsworkingwithelectricalsystems,motorcontrolcircuitsorautomationequipment;ahighschooldiploma/GEDisrequired,whileatechnicalschooldiploma,associatedegree,orindustrialmaintenancebackgroundisstronglypreferred.

• JourneymanorMasterElectricianlicensestronglypreferred

• NEC: ProvenproficiencyinNECthroughmaintenanceorelectricalprojects.

• CMMSProficiency: AbilitytonavigateaComputerizedMaintenanceManagementSystemtologrepairs,managepartsinventory,andschedulepreventivemaintenancetasks.

• HandsonElectricalSkills:Practicalexperiencewithwiring,relaycontrols,andmotorcontrolcenters,ensuringsafeandreliableequipmentoperation.

• ProblemSolvingMindset:Demonstratedtrackrecordofdiagnosingandresolvingcomplexelectrical/automationissueswithminimaldowntime.Preferred,butnotrequired.

The current base salary range for this role is between $31.00 - $46.00/hour. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
