What You'll Do

The focus of this job will be on packaging materials and preparing products for prompt shipment on an accurate and timely basis.

  • Prepare merchandise for shipment by labeling, packaging, preparing records of goods shipped, and posting weights
  • Verify shipments are correct
  • Verify material received from warehouse and assembly cells
  • Communicate discrepancies
  • Assure that shipping documents are processed properly
  • Perform light clerical duties
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling equipment
  • Maintain stock in an orderly and safe manner
  • Keep the work area clean
  • Responsible for prioritizing outgoing shipments
  • Responsible for inventory control
  • Reject damaged goods and follow company procedures for returns
  • Lift and move heavy objects
  • Communicate to crew leaders or assistant distribution manager any problems
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Wrap and strap pallets
  • Perform other duties as assigned by crew leaders or assistant distribution manager
Your Experiences & Skills
  • Formally trained in the principles and methodology of Lean Enterprise, one (1) year experience is preferred
  • Previous shipping & receiving experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred
  • Previous hand scanner experience
  • A persuasive speaker to both peers and superiors—has natural charisma
  • Must have legible handwriting
  • Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and specifications
  • Good mathematical aptitude
  • Basic product knowledge
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and routines related to customer deliveries
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a forklift license
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
