About the Opportunity

A rapidly growing organization is seeking an experienced and results-driven leader to oversee multiple high-volume distribution facilities across a defined region. This role is responsible for driving operational performance, financial results, and customer satisfaction through effective leadership of site-level teams and support functions.

The Director of Distribution Operations will provide strategic direction and accountability for all aspects of distribution center performance and will play a key role in standardizing processes, improving efficiencies, and supporting continued growth.

This position reports to executive leadership and requires regular travel throughout the assigned region.


Position Summary

The Director of Distribution Operations has overall responsibility for the performance of multiple distribution centers within an assigned region. This leader oversees all site operations as well as the functional teams supporting maintenance, engineering, automation, safety, quality, human resources, and information technology.

The successful candidate will be a proven multi-site leader with extensive experience in large-scale distribution operations and a strong record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, service, and profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight for multiple distribution centers within the region.
  • Direct and support warehouse leaders to ensure consistent execution and achievement of operational goals.
  • Oversee all functional areas supporting distribution operations, including maintenance, engineering, automation, safety, quality, human resources, and information technology.
  • Drive performance against key metrics related to productivity, service, inventory accuracy, and cost control.
  • Standardize operating procedures and implement best practices across all locations.
  • Lead workforce planning and organizational development to support current and future business needs.
  • Conduct regular site visits, audits, and business reviews to assess performance and identify opportunities.
  • Manage regional financial results, including operating costs, labor spend, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize throughput, service, and efficiency.
  • Support new facility launches, transitions, and operational improvement efforts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7โ€“10+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution or warehouse operations.
  • Proven success managing multiple sites in high-volume distribution environments.
  • Experience leading large teams and developing senior site leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and profit and loss performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance, service, and profitability.
  • Experience supporting facility start-ups, rapid growth, or turnaround environments preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including varying temperatures.
  • Ability to travel by automobile and airplane for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
