About the Role
Our company is seeking a Staff Electrical Power Engineer to join our Rolled Products North America (RPNA) business unit at Davenport Works, the largest aluminum rolling mill in the U.S. This role is responsible for leading and managing projects related to energy efficiency and electrical distribution, ensuring the reliability and optimization of plant electrical systems.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will work on cutting-edge power distribution projects, lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts, and support the plant's energy efficiency initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership - Manage engineering, design, procurement, and implementation of energy efficiency and electrical distribution projects.
  • Electrical System Optimization - Identify and develop innovative solutions to improve plant energy efficiency and electrical network reliability.
  • Power Distribution Management - Oversee the operation and enhancement of medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Technical Problem-Solving - Work with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve electrical system challenges.
  • Construction & Outage Supervision - Direct designers, maintenance personnel, and contractors during field construction and power outages.
  • Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation - Assist with troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions to prevent system failures.
  • Arc Flash & Short Circuit Studies - Oversee studies and implement necessary improvements to comply with safety standards.
  • Shift & Weekend Support - While primarily a first-shift role, occasional off-shift and weekend support may be required.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Basic understanding of medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. work authorization required (visa sponsorship is not available).
  • Must be able to access controlled technology as per Export Administration Regulations (EAR) & ITAR compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience executing power distribution projects.
  • 2+ years of experience using power modeling software (e.g., arc flash & short circuit studies).
  • Expertise in switchgear, MCCs, transfer switches, switch yards, generators, UPS, transformers, and power control systems.
  • 3+ years of experience leading electrical projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project Management software.
