GENERAL MANAGER Position Summary Reporting to the National Operations Manager this position takes on full responsibility for the management of BTN’s Schomberg division. The focus of the manager is to obtain profit contribution for their location by managing and leading staff on the strategic direction and business objectives put forth by senior management.  Functions and responsibilities will include the development and accountability of their divisional budget, execution of production, purchasing, shipping and receiving timelines, inventory availability, facility and capital planning, and development of star performers by leading and recruiting the best staff possible Specific Duties and Responsibilities Budgeting * Create and develop alongside the National Operations Manager a realistic daily, weekly, monthly and annual target for all costs and processes your division encounters * Create and monitor benchmarking targets that can be reported and analyzed in real time, that measure efficiencies and process improvement within your division * Gather and present at least three quotes, estimates and options surrounding capital and process improvements Production * Work with the production manager to assist in the planning and execution of the production plan set forth for your division * Ensure all production protocols and procedures are in place to capture the necessary information required to report back to the Production Manager or Finance department Purchasing * Work with the Purchasing Manager to assist in the planning and procurement of product that your location requires * Ensure PO’s are entered and all purchasing procedures are followed for information pertaining to your location Distribution/Logistics * Work with the Distribution Manager and Logistics Manager to assist in the packaging, planning and execution of all shipments in and out of your location * Ensure quality meets the expectation of the Production Manager and Sales teams Inventory Management * Ensure procedures are in place to properly and accurately manage weekly availabilities, as well as entire inventory counts which take place twice a year * Ensure that procedures are in place so that inventories are up to date, and accurate * Ensure the VP of Sales and associated staff is informed of crops that are ready for sale, both for allocated inventory and surplus inventory Staff Management * Responsible for the management of all staff within the division and setting up an organizational structure that ensures each member understands their own roles and responsibilities * Coordinate with the Human Resource Manager on any divisional policy or labour needs and requirements * Develop plans that motivate employees and helps them realize their career objectives by ensuring that performance evaluations as set by the Human Resources Manager are performed at least once a year * Responsible for training, coaching, counseling and disciplining staff while creating an environment that allows all staff the opportunity to offer information and opinions Reporting * Responsible for submitting any daily, weekly, monthly or annual reports to the National Operations Manager when requested and perform specific ad HOC reports where necessary The Ideal Candidate will possess the following; * University/College Degree * minimum 2 years of managerial experience  * minimum 2 years experience in nursery industry would be an asset * intermediate MS office skills * strong communication skills (written and verbal) * excellent organizational skills with attention to detail * solid problem-solving abilities * ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines
