Job description

Logistics Specialist
Working within the Materials & Logistics organization and reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing domestic and international shipping activities, with a primary focus on domestic transportation, to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods.
The role is based in the Shipping Office and requires regular presence on the production floor to support execution, validate shipment readiness, and resolve issues in real time. The position interacts daily with internal teams, carriers, freight forwarders, truck drivers, 3PL/4PL partners, vendors and customers.
As a Logistics Specialist you will:
  • Execute daily domestic and international shipping activities using the Transportation Management System (TMS) and/or any system in place.
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers, freight forwarders, truck drivers, and 3PL/4PL partners, primarily for domestic shipments.
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness, including:
    • Commercial Invoices
    • Packing Lists
    • Bills of Lading (BOL) / Master & House BOL (as applicable)
    • Air Waybills (AWB)
    • FCRs (as applicable)
    • Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI)
    • Export documentation and filings such as AES/EEI (as applicable)
    • Certificates of Origin and other customer/market documents as required
    • Letters of Credit documentation support (when applicable)
  • Support customs clearance activities by coordinating with customs brokers and freight forwarders; providing required documentation and respond to requests to prevent clearance delays.
  • Track and trace shipments; support resolution of transit, delivery, or clearance issues and escalate as appropriate.
  • Communicate shipment status, delays, and updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Work closely with Production, Shipping, and Project Management to align shipment execution with operational priorities.
  • Spend time on the production floor verify dimensions, weights, packaging, and shipment readiness.
  • Support compliance with Incoterms�, U.S. export regulations, DOT, and Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) requirements, when applicable.
  • Assist with freight quoting and cost comparison across domestic and international shipping modes.
  • Support logistics reporting and data collection for transportation spend and performance metrics.

We are looking for someone who has:
  • 2�4 years of experience in logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations, within a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience managing both domestic and international shipments.
  • Hands-on experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Familiarity with 3PL and/or 4PL logistics operating models.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance workflows and working with customs brokers/freight forwarders.
  • Experience pricing and coordinating LTL, FTL, LCL, FCL, and air shipments.
  • Strong attention to detail and execution discipline.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and spend time in a shop-floor environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive problem solver.

Ideally you will also have:
  • Exposure to ERP systems and shipment visibility tools.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping requirements.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers and external logistics providers.

The Physical Demands of the role are:
  • Based in the Shipping Office with regular presence on the production floor.
  • General office environment with frequent PC use.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Standing, walking, and stooping as required to support shipping operations.
