Job description

Aviva Family and Children's Services Mission Statement

Creating safe, supportive spaces where children, youth, and families can heal, build resilience, and experience belonging.

Job Summary

Working closely with the Vice President of Development and Director of Development, this role leads and manages Aviva's in-kind giving operations-including volunteer activations-and development operations with a particular focus on CRM data integrity and donor moves management. The Development Manager applies professional judgment to keep these functions mission-aligned and integrated with broader donor cultivation and stewardship strategy.

With administrative support assigned to absorb routine transactional work, the Development Manager will exercise independent judgment in program development, cross-department coordination, and process design for Aviva's in-kind giving strategy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In-Kind Giving, Corporate & Community Engagement

  • Build, launch, and manage Aviva's in-kind giving program-including donation drives, corporate product donations, volunteer activations, and seasonal campaigns-positioning Aviva as a trusted partner for corporate and community engagement.

  • Lead Aviva's annual holiday drive from planning through stewardship-managing logistics, donor and corporate communications, distribution, and acknowledgements for seasonal giving partners.

  • Strategically partner with program leadership to assess and prioritize in-kind needs across Aviva, translating site-level input into actionable giving opportunities.

  • Develop and oversee systems for tracking requested items, received donations, storage, distribution, acknowledgements, and donor follow-up; collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of in-kind contributions.

  • Proactively identify and cultivate opportunities for individuals, companies, vendors, and community partners to support Aviva through in-kind giving.

  • Identify, evaluate, and advance corporate and community engagement opportunities connected to in-kind giving, donor stewardship, Development events, and Aviva's broader donor pipeline.

Development Operations, Moves Management & Workflow Coordination

Manage and continuously improve donor engagement, stewardship, and moves management systems in alignment with strategic direction from the Vice President of Development and Director of Development.

Manage pledge tracking and follow-up in collaboration with Development and Finance, ensuring timely communication and accurate documentation.

Maintain the integrity of donor records, gift documentation, development files, and tracking tools-establishing standards and ensuring consistency across the department.

Develop and analyze reports, dashboards, and data tools that inform donor engagement decisions, fundraising strategy, and department planning.

Own quality control for donor lists, acknowledgments, tracking documents, reports, and development materials-setting standards and ensuring accuracy before distribution.

Direct assigned administrative support to ensure routine data entry, mailings, gift documentation, scheduling, and transactional tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Design and implement tools, templates, checklists, and processes that improve consistency and efficiency.

Lead cross-departmental coordination between Development, Finance, Programs, Operations, and the Executive Office to ensure alignment and efficient information flow.

Development Events & Engagement Support

Lead assigned Development events, donor cultivation activities, support with Platinum Associates events, and corporate engagement opportunities.

Coordinate assigned vendor, volunteer, and logistics support for Lifting Up LA and other Development events.

Manage event-related workflows, materials, sponsor recognition, and post-event follow-up, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.

Partner with the Director of Development to ensure events and engagement activities support fundraising, stewardship, and donor relationship goals.

Review event and engagement materials for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Development Department standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities
