Location: Summerdale, AL (Viridi Magnolia, LLC)ย

Viridiโ€™s mission is to maximize the value of our partnersโ€™ biogas-generating assets by creating RNG that replaces higher-emission fuel in a cost-friendly, environmentally effective way.ย ย 


Through capture and conversion of naturally occurring biogas, we reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and fossil-fuel use, while improving local air quality and increasing availability of cleaner transportation fuels.ย 


On our journey to realize our mission, we are seeking a Plant Operator for our Magnolia site located in Summerdale, AL.ย 


Viridi Magnolia Operations descriptionย 


Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) upgrading facility using Landfill Gas as the source of biogas.ย Co-located at the landfill, the upgrading facility will produce pipeline quality natural gas around the clock.ย The working hours will be Monday through Friday day shift with a rotating on-call schedule to cover nights and weekends.ย 


Equipment utilized at the site includes gas compression, Siloxane and NMOC removal, H2S removal, CO2, O2, and N2 removal (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption), and a thermal destruction device (flare).ย ย ย RNG upgrading is fully operational at the site and consistent operation with continued improvement in gas flow, recovery, and uptime is the objective.ย 


Scope of Roleย 


The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of a landfill gas-to-RNG upgrading facility. This position performs plant operations through the Distributed Control System (DCS), conducts routine inspections, troubleshoots process and equipment issues, and performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process systems.ย The position ensures compliance with environmental, safety, operational, and quality requirements while maximizing plant uptime and RNG production.ย ย 


Duties and Responsibilitiesย ย 

  • Perform all duties and actions safelyย 
  • Ensure that all employees, contractors, and visitors follow safety and security protocolsย 
  • Operate and maintain all biogas upgrading equipment and associated support systems to produce the highest quality and quantity of RNG as safely and reliably as possibleย 
  • Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance tasks as required on mechanical, electrical, and controls systemsย 
  • Perform calibrations as needed for plant systems and instrumentationย 
  • Identify and troubleshoot any deviations from expected conditions or plant performanceย 
  • Support activity in the landfill to optimize wellfield performance and landfill gas flow to the plant associated with the landfill Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS)
  • Actively engage in identifying and providing improvement suggestions for safe, reliable, and efficient plant operationsย 
  • Perform routine operator rounds and inspections - collecting, reporting, and analyzing data to identify changes or issuesย 
  • Support landfill personnel in support of Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS) operation and maintenanceย 
  • Maintain an organized and clean plantย 
  • Manage supplies, consumables, and spare parts inventoryย 
  • Work well in a team environment, able to work independentlyย 
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed and be on-call for nights/weekends rotationย 
  • Foster and maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful relationship with all business partners.ย 


Requiredย ย 

  • High school diploma or GEDย 
  • Two or more years of manufacturing or industrial operations experienceย 
  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electric systems; and equipment repair and operationย 
  • Ability to learn and become qualified as a plant operatorย 
  • Strong command of English language, both verbal and writtenย 
  • A valid driver's license in good standingย 
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and background checkย 
  • This position is part of a rotation for on-call for nights and weekends, must be able to travel to the site within 75 minutes when required, when on-call for alarm call-outs or activities as needed.ย 


Preferredย ย 

  • Associate's degree in a technical disciplineย 
  • Technical skill certification(s)ย 
  • Chemical plant or gas processing experienceย ย 
  • Renewable Natural Gas or Natural Gas industry experienceย 
  • Landfill GCCS experienceย 
  • US Military Veterans are encouraged to applyย 


Physical Requirementsย 

  • Various working conditions including office work, work at a computer, outside work in all weather conditions, inside plant work in both heat and cold.ย 
  • Work in tight spaces, overhead, low to the ground, and on uneven surfaces.ย 
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds safely, climbing ladders and scaffolding, standing for long periods.ย 
  • Respond quickly to alerts, alarms, and changes in plant conditions or status.ย ย 
  • Ability to work safely with a range of chemicals and materials utilizing appropriate PPE.ย
