Job description

Overall Purpose

This position functions as a strategic individual contributor expected to solve challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative environment. The Distinguished Engineer will significantly impact the Security agenda within Early Warning and devise clear roadmaps to deliver next generation solutions across organizational boundaries. An ideal candidate would have a broad technical expertise and the agility to adapt, creating strategic and innovative solutions that drive business transformation and growth. They should also excel in collaboration, influencing stakeholders to realize benefits that extend beyond their subject matter expertise.

Essential Functions

  • Lead design, implementation, and ROI achievement for strategic and innovation efforts within the Security organization.

  • Provide architectural and design oversight, working with other key resources to deliver practical solutions on time and within budget.

  • Drive effectiveness and efficiency where needed to implement or otherwise enhance workflows to include but not limited to processes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code through orchestration or configuration, and other automation as desired.

  • Provide mentorship as needed to key technical staff within the Security organization.

  • Develop solutions and approaches for presented or observed challenges to enhance visibility and align to organizational objectives, while maintaining perspective for business, security, and operational ROI

  • Provide expert level technical and strategic oversight of key projects and implementations performed by the Security organization; proactively identifies cross-functional dependencies and makes decisions to meet requirements, ensures user experience and minimizes operational and financial risk.

  • Lead diagnosis of complex issues, guide, or otherwise perform root cause analysis where needed; provide recommendations or execution for mitigation.

  • Champion a culture of innovation and excellence within an environment which requires elevated levels of scalability, security, reliability, and resiliency. Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends, and strategies.

  • Collaborate with all areas of the organization to drive root cause analysis for security related issues.

  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education or equivalent experience in Computer Science and Engineering

  • Demonstrated 15+ years of industry work experience within technology industry in applicable technology roles.

  • Able to articulate and adapt within fast-paced, complex, and dynamic situations to derive solutions for presented challenges and effectively communicate with direct leadership and key stakeholders across all levels of the organization where desired.

  • Expert knowledge of server and endpoint operating systems and APIs

  • Expert knowledge of networking protocols and communication flows

  • Expert experience with administration of enterprise level solutions across a wide spectrum to include but not limited to addressing high availability and recovery.

  • Facilitate solutions through continuous integration, delivery, and deployments using industry.

  • Accurately assess problems and requests from multiple perspectives, analyze approach feasibility, and decide on or otherwise drive the efficient course of action.

  • Expert knowledge of common interpreted, compiled, and lower-level languages (e.g., PERL, Python, Java, C/C++, assembly architecture)

  • Assess risk from a technical and business perspective and advise and/or implement manual or automated solutions based on defined use cases and derived ROI.

  • Expert in developing practical solutions within on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Ability to work solo or within a team and serve as a trusted and knowledgeable advisor and technical lead for the Security organization.

  • Experience working in an agile environment and with automation teams.

  • Experience defining and leading disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.

  • SDLC and ITIL service management experience

  • Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience

  • Financial and payments industry experience

  • Internet or Enterprise hardware/software company

  • Performed architecture, engineering, and operations roles.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $220,000 - $303,000.

Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
