Job description

Overview:
Our client is seeking a motivated Organic Chemist to join our team. You'll support the development and optimization of surfactant synthesis and related molecular biology techniques to ensure high-quality product output.
Job Title: Organic Chemist
Location: Fully Onsite (Bay Area)
Type: 6-month Contract (with potential for extension)
Pay Rate: $28-$32/hr
Start Date: Late June or July (flexible for the right candidate)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (start time flexible)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform organic synthesis (e.g., acyl chloride reactions, PEG addition, distillation) for surfactant production
  • Optimize R&D processes and troubleshoot synthesis workflows
  • Support molecular biology projects (PCR, gene cloning, DNA/RNA manipulation)
  • Operate analytical lab equipment (pH/conductivity meters, Qubit, NanoDrop, BioAnalyzer, GPC/SEC)
  • Maintain detailed lab records and collaborate across teams

Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
  • 1-2 years' lab experience (academic or industry)
  • Familiar with emulsion chemistry and PCR
  • Strong attention to detail, motivated, and self-directed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite
  • Experience in GMP or regulated environments
