Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (or surrounding market)

We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Business Development Manager to spearhead growth initiatives within the commercial Building Automation and Controls market. This is a high-impact role for a results-driven professional who understands the technical and business aspects of BAS solutions and has a track record of generating revenue through strategic customer engagement.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans targeting commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and other key market segments.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new Building Automation and Controls opportunities within assigned territories and target accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, facility managers, consultants, engineers, architects, and decision-makers.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by providing expertise on Building Automation Systems, controls solutions, energy optimization, and system integration strategies.
  • Lead the sales process from opportunity identification through proposal development, presentation, negotiation, and project award.
  • Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, operations, and project teams to develop competitive solutions and winning proposals.
  • Assist in the development of controls estimates, conceptual budgets, and customer presentations.
  • Communicate customer requirements, expectations, and project objectives to internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends.
  • Participate in networking events, industry associations, and professional organizations to expand market presence and generate leads.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and consistently achieve or exceed revenue goals.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and contribute to long-term market growth strategies.
  • Mentor and share industry knowledge with less experienced team members.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of successful business development, sales, or account management experience within the Building Automation Systems (BAS), Controls, HVAC Controls, Energy Services, or Smart Building industry.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and closing large commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of Building Automation Systems, controls platforms, HVAC systems, energy management, and facility operations.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with owners, engineers, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and conceptual project requirements.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with an understanding of project pricing, budgeting, and contract structures.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with major BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Trane, Distech, Alerton, or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of design-build, plan-and-spec, retrofit, and service sales environments.
  • Existing relationships within the commercial construction and facilities market.
