Job description

Job Summary
The BAS Controls Technician IV is an advanced-level position responsible for installing, programming, testing, calibrating, operating, and repairing control systems, including related software, hardware, and equipment. This role requires expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and configuring systems while providing leadership and training to lower-level technicians.
Essential Duties
  • Handle advanced control installations, troubleshooting, and repair of low-voltage devices.
  • Set up and configure field devices, ensuring proper operation and functionality.
  • Conduct functional testing and provide detailed data reports to commissioning agents.
  • Diagnose system performance issues using functional testing data and correct program deficiencies.
  • Use software/technology to create and modify programming, including graphics, databases, and sequences.
  • Communicate with commissioning agents, delegate tasks, and complete punch list items.
  • Set up and troubleshoot network protocols such as BACnet MSTP, BACnet/IP, Modbus, and Lon.
  • Coordinate effectively with customers' IT departments and stakeholders.
  • Build control panels and ensure accuracy in design and installation.
  • Review and redline submittal drawings, identify deficiencies, and implement corrections.
  • Identify the need for change orders and submit proper documentation to project managers for customer approval.
  • Complete construction projects within specified customer timelines.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers and provide user-end training to ensure satisfaction.
  • Serve as a technical resource for lower-level technicians, offering guidance and training.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work to ensure proper device installation.
  • Operate troubleshooting tools, meters, and hand tools proficiently.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles and trailers, adhering to company driving and safety policies.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory stock on service vehicles.
  • Continue company-provided training and advanced skill development while mentoring lower-level technicians.
  • Comply with all safety protocols, including arc flash, confined space, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a BAS Controls Technician.
  • Certification with Tridium AX/N4, Distech, Siemens, and Schneider Electric systems
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • HVAC knowledge, including air handling units, variable air volume units, fan-powered boxes, and rooftop units.
  • Experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems.
  • Strong understanding of A/C and low-voltage D/C electrical circuits and operation.
  • Hands-on experience with control platforms (e.g., Siemens, Distech, JCI, Inet).
  • Expertise in access control and lighting control installations and programming.
  • Advanced controls programming and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
  • Skilled in using testing and metering devices.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrates ethical business practices and solid interpersonal skills
