Job Description:

Ryan Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Designer II to join our A+E team in Minneapolis. We use a unique integrated delivery process that involves architecture, engineering, construction, development, real estate management and capital markets. Our integrated process requires an individual to be able to work in a proactive and positive manner in tandem with local teams and cross regionally within a national design practice. In this position, you will primarily be responsible for creating extraordinary design solutions and inspiring design excellence. The ideal candidate will be able to problem solve and design both as part of a collaborative team and independently. Candidates with at least 4 years of experience are most likely to be successful, however those with unique career experience or who display clear potential for the role will be considered.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Work in tandem with Client, Architects, Design Project Manager, Designers Development, Construction, and Consultants to develop documentation for coordination and construction.

  • Solves problems and applies basic principles of design

  • Perform tasks with a high level of collaboration and sets an example for others to follow.

  • Establish and pursue annual goals, based on personal, professional and company growth in the industry.

  • Direct, supervise and mentor junior staff.

  • Responsible for execution of Ryan's yearly review and goal setting process based on personal and professional, development goals.

  • Actively participates in Ryan Companies' and Ryan A+E's 5-year vision/initiatives and 1-year business plans and goals.

Project Delivery

  • Participate in creating a complete, thorough set of design documents to meet project goals, milestones and schedule.

  • Participate in all phases of the project scope from programming to construction administration, with specific attention to building codes, detail documentation and constructability.

  • Participate in development and implementation of an overall design palate that supports the aesthetic, budget, and functional goals of the project.

  • Advise client on appropriate finish and material selections.

  • Participate in and lead design meetings, consultant meetings and project team meetings.

  • Independently solve problems and apply basic principles of design.

  • Participate in resolving unusual or complex technical issues.

  • Participate in design code review and implement requirements.

  • Participate in Ryan's QA/QC process and project specifications for scope of work.

  • Identify and communicate deviations in project scope and works with project team to resolve.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • 4+ years of experience in related job.

  • Professional Architecture degree; Bachelor or Master of Architecture or Technical Degree.

  • Relevant professional work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Revit, BIM tools, Building Codes, Documentation and Constructability.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

You will really stand out if you have:

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse team.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Enscape, Sketchup, and Bluebeam.

  • LEED AP and/or WELL AP certification.

Compensation:

The salary range is $75,000 - 80,000.00 annually. The base salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
