Cargo Express Freight is seeking a reliable and organized Dispatcher to coordinate our drivers, loads, and delivery schedules. In this role, you will be the key point of contact between drivers, customers, and internal operations, ensuring that freight moves safely, on time, and in accordance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This is a fast-paced, communication-driven position ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving and keeping many moving parts on track. Freight industry experience is a plus, but we welcome entry-level candidates and provide the training needed to succeed. 
Dispatcher Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Assign, schedule, and coordinate drivers and loads to meet customer pickup and delivery windows. 
  • Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding routes, delays, load updates, and delivery instructions. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between drivers, customers, shippers, and receivers to resolve issues quickly. 
  • Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) and help ensure compliance with DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. 
  • Track shipments in progress and proactively communicate status updates, delays, or exceptions to customers and management. 
  • Enter and maintain accurate dispatch, load, and delivery records in the company’s systems. 
  • Coordinate with the operations and safety teams to address breakdowns, accidents, or route changes as they arise. 
  • Plan efficient routes to maximize on-time delivery and minimize empty miles and costs. 
  • Answer incoming calls and emails in a professional and timely manner. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Dispatcher Requirements and Qualifications 
Required 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment 
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, data entry, and Microsoft Office) 
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure 
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work assigned shifts 
Preferred 
  • Freight, trucking, logistics, or dispatch experience (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply and will be trained) 
  • Familiarity with dispatch, TMS, or ELD software 
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA Hours of Service regulations 
  • Bilingual 
  • Customer service experience 
Compensation and Benefits
Starting pay is $19.00 per hour for candidates with no prior experience, with room to grow based on experience and performance. Additional benefits include:
