Job description

SERVICE DISPATCHER

Pay: $23-$25hr depending on experience

Location: Tampa, FL 33610

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm


The Service Dispatcher supports the Service Manager with daily scheduling, field productivity, customer service, and overall Service Department operations. This position works closely with technicians, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure service calls are handled efficiently and customers receive timely support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch service technicians based on job requirements, technician experience, availability, and workload.
  • Coordinate service calls and help ensure timely completion of scheduled work.
  • Assist the Service Manager with planning, organizing, and coordinating department resources.
  • Communicate with customers regarding service needs, scheduling, job status, and concerns.
  • Help resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally.
  • Support field technicians with customer service, non-technical procedures, and service expectations.
  • Work with suppliers regarding parts availability, pricing, reliability, and delivery.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable regarding problem accounts and credit limits when needed.
  • Assist technicians with after-hours and emergency service calls.
  • Support the sale of service jobs and service agreements.
  • Serve as backup to the Service Manager when needed.
  • Perform additional Service Department responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Previous dispatching, service coordination, customer service, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in HVAC/R, mechanical contracting, building services, or a similar field service environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC/R terminology, equipment, and service operations.
  • Experience scheduling or dispatching field service technicians preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple service calls, technicians, and changing priorities.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers, technicians, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Ability to work with suppliers regarding pricing, parts availability, and delivery.
  • Knowledge of job costing, service sales, and service contracts is a plus.
  • Ability to professionally handle customer complaints and escalations.
  • Willingness to provide on-call or after-hours support when required.
  • Valid driver's license.


IDEAL BACKGROUND

Experience within HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, mechanical contracting, facilities services, building services, or another field service environment is preferred.
