Yard Associate - Delivery Driver

Lezzer Lumber has grown over the decades into the 30th largest lumber dealers in the country. We are currently comprised of 11 retail stores, 4 commercial door facilities, and a truss manufacturing plant, all located in Pennsylvania.

Summary:
Delivers customer orders or freight using location delivery vehicles (with a GVW of less than 26,000 pounds) following safe driving and standard unloading, customer service, and operational practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assists in or performs the loading of delivery vehicles with customer orders or freight.
• Delivers customer orders as assigned using sound and safe delivery practices for all types of deliveries.
• Safely operates location vehicles, including but not limited to flatbeds, pickups, stake-body, and box trucks
• Provides courteous job site delivery service to all customers and customer representatives
• Properly completes delivery invoice documents
• Corrects or brings to the attention of the Dispatcher / Yard Manager any unsafe vehicle condition or maintenance requirement
• Performs basic yard housekeeping duties as assigned in the yard and related storage facility areas.
• Verifies and returns customer returned merchandise to the yard as requested.
• Promptly and accurately completes required driver and vehicle documents including but not limited to fuel and DOT pre and post trip inspections.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance checks on delivery vehicles following company guidelines and maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the delivery fleet
• Follows safe vehicle and equipment operation and general yard practices.
• Immediately reports all accidents, injuries, and incidents of damage to merchandise, buildings and equipment and customer property to the Dispatcher / Yard or Assistant Manager.
• Knows and practices safe and proper lifting, carrying, and materiel maneuvering practices.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Active driver's license required with medical card.
• Ability to comply with and satisfactorily pass the pre-employment drug screen and random alcohol and drug screen testing per company policy.
• Ability to work with moderate mathematical concepts such as calculating weights for material distribution at jobsite
• Knowledge of lumber and building materials.
• Ability to analyze and reason in concepts of carrying, maneuvering, and unloading materials.
• Knowledge of delivery methods and techniques.
• Two to four years' experience in merchandise delivery and customer service preferred.
• Ability to complete a forklift operator's certification.
• Demonstrates superior customer service.
