Job description

Dispatch Specialist – TCS Transportation (NEMT)

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Schedule: Full-Time

At TCS Transportation, our Dispatch team is the heartbeat of our operation—ensuring that every member gets where they need to go safely, on time, and with dignity.

We’re not just looking for someone who can assign trips.
We’re looking for someone who can lead in the moment, support drivers, and make real-time decisions that directly impact people’s lives.

What You’ll Do (The Impact You’ll Make)
  • Take ownership of the day’s operation—ensuring zero missed trips and minimizing delays.

  • Act as the central support system for drivers, providing clear direction, problem-solving, and calm leadership throughout the day.

  • Make real-time decisions to adjust routes and schedules while balancing efficiency and member care.

  • Coordinate return trips (leg 2) with urgency and strategy to reduce wait times for members.

  • Communicate with empathy and professionalism—especially during high-pressure or service-recovery situations.

  • Partner with Trip Assignment and Operations to quickly resolve service disruptions.

  • Maintain strong awareness of performance goals while never losing sight of the human impact behind each trip.

What Makes You a Great Fit

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can balance urgency with compassion—you care about people and performance.

  • Is confident communicating with drivers and can earn respect through clarity and consistency.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make decisions without hesitation.

  • Takes accountability—when something goes wrong, you step in and fix it.

  • Is highly organized and can manage multiple moving pieces without losing focus.

  • Understands that in NEMT, every trip matters—this is not just logistics, it’s care.

Performance Expectations (What Success Looks Like)
  • No missed trips and minimal late service

  • Strong trip efficiency (Urban: 2/hr | Specialized: 1/hr)

  • Return trips dispatched within 5 minutes on average

  • Clear, professional communication with drivers and team members

  • Consistent contribution to operational improvements

Why This Role Matters

Every decision you make directly impacts someone’s ability to get to dialysis, a doctor’s appointment, or home safely.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a difference while operating at a high level of performance.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and solve problems quickly.
    • Empathetic and respectful approach to all team members and clients.
    • Comfortable using transportation software and mobile navigation tools.

      Requirements:

    • Associate’s Degree or 2 years of dispatch/logistics experience.
    • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
    • Familiar with smartphone and dispatch applications.
