Detroit Community Schools is hiring a Bus Drivers and Substitute Bus Drivers.

We are seeking a reliable and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a passion for providing exceptional service to passengers. This role requires a dedicated individual capable of operating a bus efficiently and maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor with all passengers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a bus along designated routes, adhering to schedules and traffic regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is functioning properly.
- Provide safe transportation for passengers, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride.
- Assist passengers with boarding and deboarding, particularly individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Manage fare collection, provide change, and issue tickets or receipts.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with dispatch, particularly in case of delays or emergencies.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or breakdowns to the appropriate authorities promptly.
- Build and maintain excellent customer relationships, addressing passenger inquiries and concerns with patience and tact.
Qualifications
- A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
- Proven experience as a bus driver or in a similar role.
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or violations.
- Strong knowledge of local and regional roadways and traffic laws.
- Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
Physical Requirements
