About the Role

At The Walt Disney Company, we believe in the power of storytelling to inform, connect, and inspire. We're looking for a Senior Product Manager II to lead the evolution of the Media Platform within the ABC News CMS, which powers content creation and publishing to ABC News websites, mobile apps, and digital platforms.

In this role, you will own the media platform end-to-end - including asset models, ingestion pipelines, AI integrations and metadata systems - and shape how editors create, manage and publish media within the CMS, ensuring workflows are intuitive, scalable, and tightly integrated across authoring and downstream experiences.

This role is ideal for a product leader who thrives in complex, technical environments and brings strong product judgment to ambiguous problems - translating cross-system complexity into clear, scalable solutions and driving alignment across teams to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

  • Define and drive a clear product strategy for media capabilities within the ABC News CMS that support digital publishing across web and mobile experiences.

  • Establish success metrics that reflect editorial efficiency, system performance and reliability.

  • Own the long-term strategy for ABC News media platform evolution, including integration of future capabilities such as video authoring, platform consolidation and AI workflow optimizations.

  • Set cross-domain strategy for media capabilities, ensuring alignment across authoring, media, and curation workflows.

Media Platform Leadership

  • Define the media object model - structure, metadata, and lifecycle - for video and image assets used in digital publishing.

  • Own the experience of media workflows within the ABC News CMS, including how editors upload, manage, and edit media metadata, ensuring workflows are intuitive, efficient, and aligned to editorial needs.

  • Drive convergence of fragmented workflows into a unified, platform-driven approach.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Deliver end-to-end media capabilities in partnership with engineering, design, and editorial teams.

  • Drive integration of media workflows across authoring and curation domains in partnership with product leads.

  • Build alignment across stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding of goals, priorities, and outcomes.

Execution & Delivery

  • Translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and deliver in iterative, measurable phases.

  • Lead complex, cross-system initiatives such as media migration and workflow consolidation.

  • Launch products with strong coordination, clear communication, and a focus on impact.

Audience-Centered Product Development

  • Reduce friction in editorial workflows, enabling users to spend more time focused on journalism and less on technical processes.

  • Partner closely with design and authoring product leads to improve the CMS experience for publishing and managing media, including metadata editing and asset management workflows.

  • Balance editorial needs with technical feasibility and long-term platform scalability.

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build strong, trusted relationships across product, engineering, editorial, and business teams.

  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and tradeoffs clearly to senior leadership.

  • Act as a platform leader, ensuring the broader ecosystem evolves in a cohesive and scalable way.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in content platforms or media technology.

  • Experience building and scaling platform products, such as content management systems, asset management systems, or enterprise products.

  • Proven ability to define product vision and align cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and editorial stakeholders.

  • Experience delivering complex products with measurable impact on performance, scalability, or workflow efficiency.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort using both qualitative insights and quantitative data.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Technical fluency and experience working closely with engineering teams in agile environments.

  • Experience navigating ambiguity and making high-impact tradeoffs across multiple product domains.
