What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Disney Character Performer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Disney Character Performer, you need strong acting skills, physical stamina, and dance or movement ability, typically supported by performance or theater experience. Familiarity with audition processes, costuming, and sometimes knowledge of choreography or puppetry are commonly required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to stay in character under pressure make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure magical guest experiences, uphold Disney's brand standards, and enable performers to handle the physical and emotional demands of the job.

What are some unique challenges performers face when portraying Disney Characters in theme parks?

Performers portraying Disney Characters in theme parks often face challenges such as maintaining character integrity for extended periods, even in hot and crowded environments. They must master non-verbal communication and exaggerated body language, as many roles require wearing full costumes or masks that limit visibility and movement. Additionally, performers collaborate closely with handlers and entertainment staff to ensure guest safety and create magical experiences. Balancing stamina, improvisation, and guest interaction is key to success in this dynamic role.

Disney Characters are featured in various forms of entertainment and are central figures in Disney theme parks, where performers bring them to life for guests. Job description

WEBTOON Entertainment is a leading global entertainment company and home to some of the world's largest storytelling platforms. As the global leader and pioneer of the mobile webcomic format, WEBTOON Entertainment has transformed comics and visual storytelling for fans and creators.

With its CANVAS UGC platform empowering anyone to become a creator, and a growing roster of superstar WEBTOON Originals creators and series, WEBTOON Entertainment's passionate fandoms are the new face of pop culture. WEBTOON Entertainment adaptations are available on Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll, and other screens around the world, and the company's content partners include Discord, HYBE, and DC Comics, among many others.

About the Role

WEBTOON is becoming the home for Marvel and Disney comics - a new subscription app where fans read, collect, and stay connected to the stories and characters they love. We're building the definitive destination for Marvel/Disney IP, and we're looking for a Head of Marketing to own how we grow it in the US market.

This role reports directly to the Head of U.S. New Initiatives, and leads the full marketing function: strategy, execution, team, and budget. You'll work closely with Product, Ops, and Business Strategy - and directly with Disney/Marvel stakeholders.

The core of the job is subscriber growth and retention. Beyond that, it's about making sure WEBTOON earns its place as the go-to home for Marvel fans - not just through paid spend, but through the communities, creators, and cultural moments that matter to this audience.

Responsibilities

1. Acquisition & Retention

  • Own subscriber growth across paid media, influencer-driven campaigns, SEO/ASO, and new channel development

  • Build and manage performance marketing with a clear focus on CAC, ROAS, and conversion efficiency

  • Own creative direction across all marketing output - briefs, campaign concepts, and asset reviews - whether produced in-house, by agencies, or by external creators

  • Own the email lifecycle: onboarding, engagement, and win-back flows

2. Community & Social

  • Identify and activate the creators, influencers, and community leaders who carry genuine credibility with the Marvel/comics audience - across TikTok, YouTube, podcasts, Reddit, Discord, Facebook groups, and beyond

  • Brief creators, shape content angles, and ensure output aligns with brand direction while preserving the authenticity that makes each voice effective

  • Own the platform's official social channels: voice, content strategy, and publishing cadence

  • Establish a framework for always-on community engagement, not solely campaign-driven activation

3. Brand & Partnershipsย

  • Lead co-marketing activations with Disney/Marvel - including film and series releases, gaming properties, and other high-profile IP moments

  • Manage the Disney/Marvel brand relationship on a day-to-day basis: approvals, compliance with brand guidelines, and long-term partnership health

  • Drive fan engagement through conventions (NYCC, SDCC, and regional events) and coordinated on-the-ground activations

  • Develop affiliate and co-marketing relationships with complementary subscription businesses and entertainment brands

What We're Looking For
Requirements
  • 10+ years in marketing, with at least 3 years in a team or functional leadership role
  • Genuine affinity for Marvel Comics and pop cultureย
  • Proven track record growing a subscription app, with ownership of the full acquisition-to-retention funnel and measurable results
  • Experience building and managing influencer and creator programs: identifying the right voices, directing their content, and measuring impact
  • Demonstrated ability to open new channels and forge partnerships from the ground up
  • Strong creative instincts and the ability to direct creative work, provide actionable feedback, and consistently raise the bar on output
  • High resilience and bias for action - this is a fast-moving environment with a high standard of execution
Preferred
  • Experience operating under a major IP licensor's brand guidelines while maintaining a distinct product identity
  • Active presence in Marvel, graphic novel, or comics fan communities
  • Background in media, entertainment, or gaming
Salary Range and Description
