Job description

At the heart of Discord's communities is Safety. The Safety team at Discord is responsible for ensuring users find belonging by minimizing exposure to abuse on the platform. We're looking for a Product Manager to lead our work on scaled abuse - fake accounts, account takeovers, scraping - and help keep Discord a safe and welcoming place.

Reporting to our safety Group Product Manager, you'll create the vision, build the systems, and lead the cross-functional strategy that detects and prevents scaled abuse before it reaches our users. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role with significant room to shape strategy, drive investment, and define how we measure and win in this space.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own the product philosophy, vision, and multi-quarter roadmap for scaled abuse, spanning fake accounts, ATO, scraping, and recidivism detection - prioritizing proactive, foundational investments that compound across the platform.
  • Define, own, and socialize the north-star metrics for the space and report progress against those goals to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Translate threat research into forward-looking defensive product work, so our roadmap focus's on the highest-leverage defensive investments rather than one-off firefights
  • Drive cross-functional execution with growth, security, anti-abuse and product teams to minimize impact of abuse on our users. This work spans machine learning solutions, heuristics, and building delightful features in-app.
  • Partner with product teams across Discord to embed abuse resistance into new surfaces before they ship.

What you should have

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, excited about finding solutions to complex, adversarial problems and then executing on them.
  • Passionate about Discord and about keeping users safe from abuse at scale.
  • 5+ years of experience as a product manager building and shipping great software, including driving prioritization, trade-offs, and timelines. Some of that experience should include designing and shipping user-facing anti-abuse features.
  • Strong product sense and pride in understanding Discord and our users.
  • Strong analytical ability to quickly organize and leverage data to make informed product decisions with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Previous work in spam, abuse, fraud, account integrity, Trust & Safety, or a strong passion to learn the space.
  • Sufficient technical domain expertise to drive alignment on technical requirements with Anti-Abuse, ML, and Security stakeholders.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with ML-based detection systems and adversarial attacker dynamics.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical experience.
  • Strong sense of delightful UI and UX design.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500+ equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
