The Big Picture

Westover Baptist Church (https://westoverministries.org) is searching for a full-time Associate Pastor of Family and Children’s Ministries.



Requirements

Position Overview

This pastor will be a key member of the pastoral team leading outreach to families in our community and Christian school, oversee our family discipleship ministry, and lead our children’s ministry (birth–6th grade).


The ideal candidate possesses a shepherd’s heart, a passion for reaching new families and a zeal to make disciples of Jesus Christ.


Qualifications

• Meet the qualifications of a pastor/elder according to 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5

• A man who is humble, teachable, and deeply committed to God’s Word and prayer

• Holds a high view of God, the sufficiency of Scripture, the local church and the sovereign grace of God

• In full agreement with the statement of faith and philosophy of ministry of Westover Baptist Church

• Able to preach and teach with clarity and conviction

• Proven leadership and organizational skills

• A self-starter who takes initiative in setting and accomplishing established goals

• Possesses a heart for outreach, discipleship and children

• Pursues excellence in all things for the glory of God

• Skilled in communicating biblical truth on age-appropriate levels


Responsibilities

Family and Discipleship Ministry

• Develop and implement outreach to families in the community and Christian school

• Work with the lead pastor to strengthen the church’s discipleship ministries

• Develop and oversee the church’s small group ministry

• Work with the pastoral team to train future leaders and equip the saints for ministry


Children’s Ministry

• Organize and oversee our children’s ministry (birth – 6th grade)• Encourage and equip parents to fulfill their primary role in discipling their children

• Provide pastoral care, guidance and prayer to families as needed

• Maintain consistent communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership

• Recruit, equip and shepherd children’s ministry volunteers

• Oversee the Awana ministry

• Lead elementary chapel at Westover Christian Academy each Friday

• Plan and oversee special events: fall and spring festivals, VBS, Summer Camp, Volunteer Appreciation,

and outreach opportunities

• Oversee childcare and children’s church for services and special events

• Ensure all safety policies, check-in procedures, and background checks are followed

• Oversee children’s ministry environments, supplies, and Sunday/Wednesday programming
