Job description

ADP is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer
  • Are you a proven SAP Basis and S/4HANA engineer with deep platform expertise?
  • Do you thrive solving complex infrastructure and performance challenges at enterprise scale?
  • Ready to lead technical strategy for mission-critical global systems?
Well, this may be the role for you. Ready to make your mark?
In this role, you will operate, optimize, and continuously evolve ADP's SAP platform that supports our GlobalView Business serving multinational payroll and HR clients globally. You will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) driving system performance, availability, and scalability across enterprise systems while mentoring teams and shaping infrastructure decisions that impact thousands of businesses relying on ADP's services.
No two days are the same. You'll balance strategic initiatives with hands-on technical problem-solving-architecting capacity expansions one day, diagnosing critical production incidents the next. Your days include performance tuning sessions, code reviews of basis configurations, mentoring junior administrators through complex migrations, designing disaster recovery strategies, and collaborating with business stakeholders to align infrastructure with evolving requirements. From proactive system monitoring to reactive incident leadership, you'll operate with both depth and breadth, always focused on platform stability and innovation.
To thrive in this SAP platform Site Reliability engineer role, you'll need extensive expertise in SAP Basis and HANA architecture, J2EE platforms, and enterprise database administration (Oracle, SQL Server, HANA, or equivalent). You'll also need strong experience with SAP Basis administration, system performance tuning, security hardening, and integration technologies (SAP BTP). Our best platform engineers are strategic thinkers who balance operational excellence with innovation-they stay current with SAP technology roadmaps, mentor others, and advocate for continuous improvement. They're comfortable owning both legacy optimization and next-gen cloud migrations, and they excel at translating technical complexity into clear communication for business leaders.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Here's what you can expect on a typical day in the life of a Site Reliability Engineer at ADP.
System Administration: Maintain & Support existing SAP workloads on prem and new S/4 HANA systems on RISE.
Support SAP RISE migration: Support migration to SAP ECS/RISE.
Portal Administration & SSO: Configure and maintain Portal infrastructure SSO integration (including Single Sign-On technologies and security configurations). Support Web Dispatchers and supplemental technologies (Apache, firewalls, certificate management).
Performance & Optimization: Proactively monitor system health using SAP tools (Solution Manager, Performance Analyzer, ST04, ST03), identify bottlenecks, and drive tuning initiatives. Create capacity planning reports and recommendations to meet short and long-term performance goals. Analyze Portal runtime exceptions and troubleshoot connectivity and web service issues.
Incident Leadership & Troubleshooting: Lead response to critical production incidents across all complexity levels (simple to highly complex), perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions.
Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design, test, and maintain backup and recovery strategies, failover configurations, and business continuity plans. Conduct disaster recovery drills and optimize RTO/RPO metrics.
Security & Compliance: Harden SAP systems against vulnerabilities, manage user access controls, audit system security, and ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.
Integration & Middleware: Oversee SAP integration points (SAP BTP), API management, and middleware infrastructure supporting GlobalView's multi-tenant architecture.
Team Leadership & Mentoring: Collaborate with global teams and external vendors, maintain runbooks and technical documentation, define team best practices and mentor engineers to strengthen operational excellence.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Deep SAP Platform Expertise:
8+ years of hands-on SAP Basis administration with extensive experience on ECC and/or S/4HANA systems.
Architecture & Design:
Proven ability to design and implement complex SAP Basis and HANA landscapes including multi-instance systems, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery configurations.
Technical Depth: Expert-level knowledge of:
  • SAP Basis and HANA architecture (ABAP, Java, or dual-stack)
  • Oracle, SQL Server, or similar enterprise database administration with advanced recovery/restore capabilities
  • Strong background in Linux administration (SUSE / Red Hat), virtualization (VMware), networking (routing, firewalls, load balancing), and storage for SAP environments.
  • Network and security concepts including Single Sign-On (SSO), firewalls, SSL/TLS, and user provisioning
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP Basis and HANA or Basis certification (SAP Certified Technology Associate or Consultant level); HANA 2.0 certification is a strong plus
  • Experience with 2+ full-cycle SAP implementations, major upgrade projects, or S/4HANA conversions
  • Cloud experience (SAP Cloud Platform, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, AWS, or similar)
  • SAP HANA database administration and optimization experience
  • DevOps and infrastructure automation (Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, or equivalent)
  • Scripting/automation experience (shell, Python, or equivalent) for infrastructure-as-code
  • Advanced security topics including SSO technologies, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline
