Job description

The IT Systems Administrator implements server and compute system solutions and maintains documentation. In addition, this position troubleshoots server and computer systems problems and monitors performance; interacts with vendors for server and compute systems resources; and is responsible for server and compute systems Disaster Recovery at assigned location(s). This position may also be assigned networking responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Responsible for planning, implementing, and testing server and compute system solutions, including disaster recovery. Maintains documentation on systems. Schedules and monitors routine backup of server and compute systems.
  2. Secures server and compute systems by monitoring, controlling, and evaluating system. Troubleshoots server and compute systems problems. Monitors statistics for performance, memory errors, disk space usage, etc. Upgrades server and compute systems hardware by evaluating, testing and installing enhancements/updates. Ensures documentation is current.
  3. Implement, secure, backup, maintain and document networking related systems as assigned.
  4. Interacts with approved vendors to acquire and manage server and compute system resources. Maintains hardware and software inventory databases, ensures proper licensing and usage.
  5. Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Specific Requirements
  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in computer related field preferred
  • Minimum four years Information Technology experience, specifically servers, Networking and MS Windows and Office required
  • Scripting and automation experience preferred
  • Technical certifications preferred (i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, etc.)
  • Proficiency with a variety of PC and Network Hardware, MS Server and a variety of software
