Job description

This position reports to:
Quality Manager
As the Product Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible verifying the quality of incoming raw materials, parts, or components, performing thorough inspections upon delivery; documenting findings, and taking necessary actions like rejecting non-conforming items or notifying suppliers of quality issues.
Candidates for this position will need to be able to work an onsite work schedule in our Florence, SC facility. #LI-Onsite
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Visual inspection: Examining incoming items for visible defects ensuring they meet required specifications and standards.
  • Perform Dimensional checks: Using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, or any other to verify dimensions and tolerances of components against specifications.
  • Documentation and reporting: Recording inspection findings including details about defects, non-conformances, and any corrective actions taken, tagging them appropriately, and initiating necessary disposition actions like returning to supplier or scrap. Participate as internal Auditor and in Suppliers audits to ensure compliance with standards as ISO 9001:2015 and 10CFRPart 50 Appendix B
  • Supplier communication: Reporting quality issues to suppliers, including providing detailed information on defects, requesting replacements and corrective actions. Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineer to achieve them.
  • Quality System compliance: Developing and maintaining Quality Plans, Control Plans, and inspection checklists.
  • Monitoring and analyzing QA metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance vendor product quality. Responsible for maintaining and complying the Quality notification Process

Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or similar, with at least 3 years of experience in Quality department working as Incoming Inspection Engineer or Product Quality Assurance Engineer: or alternately a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments in Incoming inspection
  • SAP Quality Module experience is required for this position
  • Prior management or leadership experience is required
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Good communication skills to report issues to suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong experience in resolution problem solving processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs and SAP Quality Module
  • Internal Auditor certified in ISO 9001: 2015 is desirable.
  • Knowledge in 10CFRPart 50 Appendix B is desirable.
  • Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the US.
