Altman Nussbaum Shunnarah Trial Attorneys is a client-focused personal injury and trial firm known for relentless advocacy and courtroom strength. We're expanding our Social Security Disability practice run by Attorney Seth Elin and seeking an organized, detail-oriented paralegal to manage disability claims from initial application through the hearing level. This role works closely with our attorneys, clients, medical providers, and the Social Security Administration to move cases forward and get clients the benefits they've earned.

This is a 100% on site position, however we are open to a remote candidate with the right experience.

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct client intake and gather background on medical conditions, treatment history, work history, and daily functioning
  • Prepare and file SSDI and SSI applications, Requests for Reconsideration, and Requests for Hearing before an Administrative Law Judge
  • Complete SSA forms including disability reports, function reports, and work history reports
  • Request, collect, and organize medical records and treating-source opinions (RFC / medical source statements)
  • Prepare cases for hearings, including exhibit files, pre-hearing briefs, and hearing memoranda
  • Track case status and statutory deadlines across the initial, reconsideration, hearing, and Appeals Council stages
  • Communicate regularly with clients, SSA field offices, Disability Determination Services (DDS), and medical providers
  • Manage documents and cases through SSA's Electronic Records Express (ERE) portal and the firm's case management system
  • Work a 40 hour work week
What You Need:
  • 3 to 5 years prior Social Security Disability or SSI experience strongly preferred; deleting general litigation or personal injury paralegal experience considered
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and client-service skills
  • Comfort with case management software (deleted ERE) and Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in additional languages a plus
