Job description

MEP Assistant Project Manager

Location: Vernon, TX

Job Overview

The MEP Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on construction projects. This role works closely with the MEP Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure MEP activities are completed on schedule, meet quality standards, and comply with project specifications and safety requirements.

The MEP APM assists with documentation, scheduling, procurement, coordination, and field support. This position is ideal for someone building their career in MEP construction management and looking to gain experience with complex systems and fast-paced project environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and submittals to understand MEP scope and requirements
  • Support development and maintenance of MEP schedules and look-ahead plans
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely information flow
  • Help track procurement, material deliveries, and equipment lead times
  • Attend coordination meetings and document action items
  • Support daily coordination with MEP subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project plans
  • Assist with field walks to monitor progress, quality, and installation accuracy
  • Help resolve basic technical issues by gathering information and coordinating with the project team
  • Maintain updated logs for RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions
  • Prepare meeting minutes, progress updates, and status reports for the project team
  • Track MEP changes, updates, and impacts to schedule or cost
  • Assist with compiling testing, startup, and commissioning documentation
  • Support quality control efforts by helping verify installations meet project specifications and code requirements
  • Assist with inspections and punch list development
  • Help ensure MEP work complies with safety standards and company policies
  • Assist with tracking MEP costs, quantities, and change order documentation
  • Help review subcontractor invoices and verify progress against work completed
  • Participate in safety meetings and help reinforce safety expectations with subcontractors
  • Assist with documenting safety observations and ensuring proper PPE and procedures are followed
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience or technical training may be considered
  • 13 years of experience in construction, engineering, or MEP-related roles preferred
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, or data center projects is a plus but not required
