Job description

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transporting to post-collection facilities.

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transpor t them to post-collection facilities.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Licensing: Valid Class 3 driver’s license.

  • Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of a recognized CDL training program.

  • Physical Ability: Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and maneuvering in tight spaces.

  • Skills & Knowledge: Strong communication, teamwork, working knowledge of vehicle safety/maintenance, and ability to perform manual labor in varying environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate side loaders or recycling trucks and related equipment along assigned routes.

  • Safety Inspections: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required reports.

  • Waste Management: Collect solid waste and recyclables, identifying and handling prohibited or hazardous waste in accordance with company procedures.

  • Reporting & Maintenance: Maintain vehicle cleanliness and promptly report any mechanical issues or route hazards.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies, maintaining accurate service records.

  • Route Efficiency: Support route optimization, communicate effectively with supervisors, and assist with overtime as needed.

Working Conditions & Demands:

  • Physical & Mental Demands: Requires regular walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting, as well as maintaining focus while driving in high-traffic, noisy, or fast-paced settings.

  • Environment: Outdoor work across all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) with exposure to noise, odors, and moving vehicles. Proper protective equipment (PPE) is provided for occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
