Bus Driver Job Summary:








  1. Operates bus on designated route and schedule, transporting only authorized students routes, buses and times may vary.
  2. Performs daily pre-trip inspection on assigned bus.
  3. Maintains proper student discipline according to district policies and department procedures.
  4. Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled.
  5. Completes pre-trip logs, mileage, maintenance, accident and discipline reports as required and/or requested.
  6. The district provides training to obtain necessary licensure.


Bus Driver Physical Requirements:ย 

  1. Pre-trip vehicle inspection:ย lifting hood, climbing and reaching to inspect engine area, bending and squatting to inspect tires,ย walking up and down bus aisle to check seats and exits.ย  Will require some periods of exposure to elements.
  2. Continued braking, accelerating, steering and operation of service door and controls while driving.
  3. Capable of lifting or dragging students in case of an emergency (ranging in weight from small child to full adult weight).
  4. Exposure to road dust, occasional fuel and exhaust fumes.


Bus Driver ย Qualifications:ย ย 

  1. Applicants must be a high school graduate or hold GED.
  2. Have a valid Minnesota driver's license with a good driving record and at least 3 years of driving experience (in any type of vehicle) For Bus Driving Position.
  3. Prefer individuals available to work mornings and afternoons.
  4. Enjoy working with children.
  5. Demonstrates and role models positive, safe and responsible behavior.
  6. Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Compensation / Benefits:
According to contractual agreement (based on 2025-27 contract)

  • Bus Drivers: $24.90 27.28 Hourly

All employees eligible for retirement plan; positions of 23 or more hours per weekย eligible for health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance plans
