Department: Emergency Services / Emergency Room

Shift's Available: Nights

Hours: 12-hour shifts: 7p - 7a

Employment Type: Full Time 

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL 

We are seeking an Emergency Room Nursing Assistant (Certified or Non-Certified), also referred to as a Emergency Department CNA or (ED CNA) or an Emergency Services CNA (ES CNA / ER CNA). An Emergency Room CNA (ER CNA) assists nurses and doctors in the emergency room / emergency department by providing patient care, monitoring vital signs, helping with procedures, and ensuring medical supplies are stocked. They also transport patients, document observations, maintain infection control, and offer emotional support in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. 

Responsibilities

** If you are a non-licensed Nursing Assistant (NA) or a Certified (CNA) and have no prior experience, we encourage you to apply.  Entry-Level NAs or CNAs are welcome to apply! 

  • Help patients with basic needs (bathing, dressing, toileting), reposition and transfer patients as needed 
  • Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration), assist with wound care and dressing changes under supervision 
  • Prepare rooms and ensure medical supplies are stocked, transport patients within the hospital (to imaging or other departments) 
  • Assist with procedures (e.g., setting up equipment, applying splints), perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support if certified 
  • Record patient information and observations, report changes in patient condition to nurses or doctors and provide emotional support to patients and families 
  • Clean and sanitize patient areas and equipment, follow hospital protocols to prevent infection spread 
Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate or within 6 months of hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physicians office
