Assists the Activity Coordinator in implementing and executing an Activity Program for all residents in the facility.

  1. Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
  2. Provides one-to-one activities to those who cannot be in a group setting.
  3. Assists in planning Activity Program through Resident’s Council and Activity Coordinator.
  4. Maintains attendance sheets on participants.
  5. Assists residents to and from activities.
  6. Communicates status of residents to Activity Coordinator.
  7. May attend interdisciplinary care plan team meetings and document on care plan and in progress notes.
  8. May make arrangements for movies, live entertainment for special programs, and group outings, such as picnics, ball games or sightseeing.
  9. Assigns duties and delegation of responsibilities to volunteers.
  10. This position has access to protected health information in the resident’s   financial and medical records to conduct job duties.

1. Experience in long term care required; preferred in recreational setting.

2. An interest in people; the ability to communication ideas; to instruct residents and communicate with them appropriately.

3. Ability to direct and perform a variety of activities and to respond to varied needs of residents.

4.  Able to motivate residents and in promoting their well being through direct activities.

5. Ability to interpret feelings, ideas, or facts in terms of personal viewpoint.

6. Must be able to evaluate resident’s progress and accurately report to Activities Coordinator.

7. Imagination and creativity are necessary.
