As RTX accelerates transformation and embraces AI-driven change, strengthening our enterprise-wide Change Excellence capabilities is essential to delivering the full value of our strategic initiatives and ensuring long-term organizational agility. We must deliver the human side of change with the same level of rigor, discipline, predictability, and strategic insight that we apply to our programs and projects.

The Director of Change Excellence has the expertise, capabilities, and enterprise leadership muscle to define what world-class change activation looks like at RTX and ensure leaders, change practitioners, transformation teams and select vendors consistently apply high-quality, modern change practices.

This role shapes and executes RTX’s multi-year Change Excellence vision, stewards enterprise standards, and builds enterprise-wide change capabilities. As a strategic advisor and thought leader, the Director partners closely with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, HR Partners and change practitioners to support and drive successful adoption of changes critical for RTX’s sustained growth and competitive advantage.

When successful, the role will:

  • Improve consistency and quality of change execution.

  • Increase the success and adoption of important change efforts across the enterprise

What You Will Do

Enterprise Change Excellence Leadership

  • Own and mature RTX’s multi-year Change Excellence vision, strategy, methodology, tools, services, and processes.

  • Provide enterprise leadership that strengthens change maturity, ensures consistency, and keeps practices aligned with evolving best practices and internal customer needs.

  • Advocate for necessary investments in tools, technology, vendor support, and resourcing to ensure RTX can successfully execute highly-complex change efforts.

  • Influence senior leaders’ decisions, behaviors, and investments using data, storytelling, portfolio insights, and relationships.

Enterprise Consultation and Advisory Services

  • Develop deep command of RTX’s enterprise transformation portfolio to anticipate interdependencies, risks, and people impacts.

  • Serve as strategic advisor and subject matter expert to senior executives, HR leaders, cross-functional project teams and vendors. Provide guidance grounded in contemporary change and transformation best practices.

  • Manage and align external vendors to RTX standards; advise internal customers on vendor selection and project fit.

 Capability-Building

  • Own RTX’s enterprise change capability-building strategy including tools, trainings, resources, and the RTX Change Management site. Ensure global accessibility and continuous improvement.

  • Strengthen collaboration and alignment across RTX’s cross-functional Change Excellence Team, a distributed network of ~70 change practitioners across RTX.

 Change Plan Execution

  • Lead activation planning and execution for one or more complex change initiatives. Translate priorities into actionable roadmaps, measurable outcomes, risk mitigation, and adoption strategies.

  • Provide direct leadership to at least one change practitioner.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
  • Deep change management subject matter expertise - developed through both academic endeavors and a successful track record of practical application (i.e. 6+ years of direct experience in enterprise change management, consulting, or transformation roles)
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-level change initiatives in a complex, highly matrixed, global organization (consulting experience applies)
  • Experience building enterprise change capabilities, including developing frameworks, tools, training programs, and maturity models that uplift organizational change agility.

  • Strong facilitation and consulting skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across senior levels of the organization. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex change strategies into clear, compelling narratives for broad range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into structure, process, and people implications.
  • Strong command of portfolio thinking—ability to assess interdependencies, risks, and impacts across simultaneous, multi-year transformations.
  • Comfort leveraging data, analytics, and insights to improve change outcomes, measure adoption, and guide strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated success building trust-based partnerships across business units, functions, and project teams to move large and complex work forward.
  • High degree of learning agility, with the ability to anticipate future trends, adapt to evolving organizational needs, and challenge the status quo in productive, strategic ways.
