Job description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides skilled nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care. Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical expertise are essential. Candidates with at least 1 year of experience are preferred, though first-time nurses are accepted.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients, including fetal monitoring and newborn assessments.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
  • Perform patient assessments and document findings accurately in Epic electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and families during labor and delivery.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and provide necessary interventions.
  • Assist with patient education and discharge planning.
  • Float between similar units as needed to support staffing demands.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience preferred; first-time nurses accepted.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferably Epic.
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience in Labor and Delivery or related acute care nursing.
  • Ability to accommodate block scheduling as per manager discretion.
Special Considerations:
  • Weekend work is required.
  • On-call requirements are pending and may be assigned.
  • Floating between similar units is expected.
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included with submission.
  • Facility provides free parking and specific scrub colors for RNs (solid royal blue) and Cath Lab/L&D staff.
Scheduling:
  • Work schedule includes weekends with possible block scheduling.
  • Shift assignments and schedules are determined by management discretion.
  • Guaranteed hours with facility allowance for one call-off per two-week pay period.
