Position Summary:

The Director of Business Technology is responsible for supporting the organization's technology strategy and overseeing day-to-day IT operations, with a strong focus on enabling internal teams-including Policy, Advocacy, Development, Marketing, Programs, and Chapter Relations-through effective, user-centered systems and tools.

This role ensures that staff have the technology, systems, and support needed to operate efficiently and effectively. The Director serves as a strategic partner to department leaders, aligning IT solutions with programmatic and operational needs while ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Systems Support

  • Partner with internal teams (Policy, Advocacy, Development, Operations, Programs, Marketing, and Chapter Relations) to provide IT support and ensure effective utilization of systems and technology.
  • Ensure all user systems (e.g., CRM, advocacy tools, grants management, collaboration platforms) are optimized, integrated, and effectively supporting team workflows
  • Provide hands-on support and oversight of system functionality, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement

IT Strategy & Leadership

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of an IT strategy, in partnership with the COO and IT team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and programmatic impact.
  • Advise leadership on technology investments, priorities, and opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Balance immediate operational needs with long-term technology planning

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Build strong relationships with department leaders to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions
  • Act as a bridge between technical systems and non-technical staff, ensuring accessibility and ease of use
  • Lead IT intake, prioritization, and project management processes across teams

Systems & Operations Management

  • Oversee implementation, configuration, and maintenance of core organizational systems
  • Manage vendors and external IT partners to ensure service quality and responsiveness
  • Ensure system reliability, uptime, and performance across the organization

Data & Reporting

  • Support teams in leveraging data effectively through system design, reporting tools, and data integrity practices
  • Improve data accessibility and reporting capabilities across departments
  • Ensure alignment between systems and organizational KPIs

Security, Compliance & Accessibility

  • Ensure all systems meet security, privacy, and compliance standards
  • Promote best practices for data protection and responsible system use
  • Ensure technology solutions are accessible and user-friendly for all staff

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective technology solutions

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in IT, systems management, or business technology roles
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple business units with user systems and technology solutions
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions
