Position Summaryof the Program Manager Role at Altek Electronics:

The Program Manager acts as the primary and accountable point of contact for a defined group of customers. They plan, manage, and report on contractual requirements and overall performance of their programs. This role is mainlyonsite, but may require some travel to customers and vendors.

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Program Manager are described below; other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensures manufacturing projects, programs, and activities are managed effectively and align with the broader objectives of the business.
  • Manages/develops the program plan for customers, including the potential schedules/forecasts, material costs, performance objectives, risk management, etc.
  • Coordinates internal & external customer resources and third parties/vendors (team) to execute programs.
  • Understands the business well enough, or seeks understanding, to be certain that the company has the appropriate resources to meet and comply with all contractual requirements including product performance, quality, and regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Conducts regular meetings and program reviews, both internal and external, to ensure requirements are communicated and carried out effectively. Works inter-departmentally, as needed, to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and ensures actions are taken to correct.
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between various functions including engineering, supply chain/procurement, and quality assurance to ensure actions and goals are aligned. Serves as the highest-level primary customer point of contact and, along with customer service, the โ€œvoice of the customerโ€ within the organization. Acts as the primary customer contact for cost and contract questions, and program issues or changes in requirements.
  • Collaborates closely with customer service and production to ensure delivery requirements are correctly communicated and executed as required by the customer.
  • Provides program direction during all phases of new programs for defined customers (proposal, contract negotiation/award, program kickoff, program execution, program close out) to accomplish cost, technical, and schedule objectives and proactively works with the team and customer to address and mitigate the impact of unplanned events (failures, realized risks, material issues, etc.) on the organization and the customer.
  • Explores new business opportunities within the customersโ€™ organizations.
  • Supports contract reviews to ensure all items are covered and that the full scope of the customer requirements is understood, accurate, and is corrected during the proposal stage should items of concern be identified.
  • Make suggestions on cost savings to ensure customers are getting the most value for their relationship with Altek Electronics, Inc.
  • Coordinates with suppliers to support program activities and ensures cost, quality and availability meet customer specifications and schedules.

Knowledge and Skills Required to be the Program Manager at Altek

  • Electronics and/or Electro-mechanical manufacturing background/experience preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical and non-technical issues to all levels.
  • Understanding of risk management, product development, and manufacturing processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Project, Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • AS9100, ISO13485, ITAR experience preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Project, Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • Ability to manipulate, interpret, and present data

Education and/or Experience

  • BS Degree in an engineering or business discipline (or equivalent experience) is required, MBA and/or PMP credentials preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in Program Management, Project Engineering, or closely related roles in the manufacturing industry.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves lifting materials and product up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to visit customers or suppliers may be required.
