Job description

SCOPE OF WORK

The Organizational Change Management Director leads Gaylor’s enterprise-wide change management strategy, ensuring successful adoption of organizational, process, and technology initiatives across the company. This role partners with executive leadership, project sponsors, and business units to develop change management frameworks, build organizational change capability, and drive sustained adoption of strategic initiatives.

The director also oversees the change management function, mentors change management staff and serves as the primary advisor to leadership on organizational readiness, communication strategy, and change risk mitigation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Effectively deals with all internal customers and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • Possesses active listening and effective communication skills, with openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Maintains discretion and confidentiality
  • Understands and translates enterprise change strategy into actionable plans for all levels of the organization
  • Expert knowledge of change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci ADKAR, Kotter) and organizational development principles
  • Working knowledge of program and portfolio management practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, and executive presentation skills
  • Ability to influence and build consensus across cross-functional and executive stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite and enterprise change management platforms

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and maintains Gaylor’s enterprise change management strategy, framework, and standards
  • Monitors compliance with change management standards across business units and reports discrepancies
  • Owns project intake, prioritization, and portfolio reporting processes across platforms
  • Leads change management planning and execution for major organizational, process, and technology initiatives
  • Evaluates, develops, and deploys new change frameworks, tools, and/or enhancements to existing practices throughout the enterprise
  • Collaborates with executive leadership, project sponsors, HR, and business unit leaders to align change strategy with business objectives
  • Collaborates with the IT resources to create functional change plans for fulfilling adoption gaps
  • Works with other teams, as required, to embed change management practices into project delivery methodology
  • Coordinates enterprise change portfolio prioritization and roadmap with executive leadership
  • Develops implementation and reinforcement plans to sustain enterprise-wide change adoption
  • Produces executive-level documentation for change initiative status, risks, and outcomes
  • Provides support by addressing and resolving significant change resistance for assigned initiatives, working directly with executive stakeholders, as needed
  • Resolves major adoption risks, receives and works escalation from the Organizational Change Management Manager and escalates to executive leadership as necessary
  • Monitors initiatives for organizational alignment issues while working with sponsors or HR to resolve
  • Interprets executive leadership’s description of a strategic concern and determines possible change solutions

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work scheduled hours, as well as additional hours if needed, on short notice
  • Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations
  • Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks
  • May require periodic travel to Gaylor offices and jobsites to support change initiatives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)
  • Ability to work while sitting or standing for long periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Business, Human Resources, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Eight or more years’ experience in organizational change management, with three or more years in a leadership capacity, preferred
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide change initiatives, preferably in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) space
  • Prosci or other advanced change management certification preferred
