Working within the Strategic Growth department and reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, the Director, Strategic Growth is a senior leader within the organization providing strategic oversight to ensure operational alignment with the County’s values and objectives. The Director is responsible for the program delivery, management and administration of the Strategic Growth department, including the Economic Growth and Land Management service areas. This position serves as a strategic leader, providing direction and guidance to staff, leading the departmental strategic planning, budget management process, policy development and providing oversight on all department projects and initiatives. This position works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to identify opportunities to diversify Parkland County’s economic base and establish systems and projects to realize these opportunities.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Social Sciences, or a related field. 
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience directly related to working in a strategic growth setting with a focus on initiative execution and overseeing multi-disciplined teams.  
  • Progressive leadership experience with proven ability to support and motivate staff with varying levels of expertise. 
  • Excellent public relations skills with the proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in managerial accounting and budget overview.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Requirements:
  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
