What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney, Compression Systems Manufacturing Center (CSMC) in Middletown, Connecticut is seeking a Special Process Manufacturing Engineer. CSMC makes complex rotating jet engine parts for military and commercial applications, i.e. F135 Engine, F100 Engine, Geared Turbofan, PW4000, etc.

With specific process ownership, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide direct troubleshooting support to the manufacturing shop floor and drive improvement across those specific manufacturing processes; robotic programmer for special process group which include surface treatment using robotic arms & tools for shot peening, brush deburr, and media finish.

  • Identify & implement process optimization & process control methods to eliminate quality turn backs/escapes and reduce overall product costs through the specific process.

  • Significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders is required to improve first pass yield through manufacturing processes

  • Perform Root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming products for responsible processes using statistical analysis tools and other methods as necessary

  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities using MRL tools such as Process Control Plans and PFMEA

  • The discipline and follow-through to fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations.

  • Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) initiatives.

  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation. Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.

  • Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance through the assigned processes

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical discipline and 5 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, shop floor or similar environment OR a Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, quality, shop floor or similar environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a constantly fluctuating work environment

  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints

  • Experience in a Manufacturing Shop Environment

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting various robots (Fanuc, ABB, Motoman, etc.)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience preferred

  • Experience in project management tools like MS Projects

  • Previous experience with PW software tools like Solumina, and SAP

  • Experience in using UG/NX, and Team Center software suites

  • Experience in using Minitab and other statistical software for analysis

  • Previous experience with working on Rotating Gas Turbine Parts

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
