POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Football and Academy Development is a full-time exempt position responsible for the development of all soccer-related training programs at Footlab. This role carries accountability for strategy development of the soccer vertical and training programs at the company. They are responsible for developing and supporting the execution of the soccer methodology and training programs along with long-term player development strategy. This role is charged with building and advising on a high-performance coaching structure. It involves designing curriculums for staff coaches, implementing training programs for athletes, providing instruction and feedback, and fostering a positive and competitive environment. They will advise on strategy for the organizations Academies, Camps, Clinics and Performance Training. Advising on driving revenue growth through academy and performance programming is a major part of the role. This position will work closely with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Define and build the overall soccer methodology and long-term player development strategy
  • Build high-performance coaching structure
  • Design curriculums for staff coaches and Train the Trainers
  • Be an advisor on hiring, training and management of coaches and trainers
  • Advise on driving revenue growth through academy and performance programming
  • Develop curriculums for Footlab Juniors Academy, Performance & Skills group sessions, Private coaching sessions, and Speed and Conditioning training sessions
  • Develop strategy for International Training Camps & Clinics at Footlab
  • Advise on International Tournaments between Footlab Academies and others
  • Consult on integration and utilization of performance tracking systems and technology
  • Collaborate with the Operations Team to ensure consistent & accurate adoption of programming processes/information
  • Support content creation, events, and public-facing initiatives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have proven track record of developing, marketing and selling recreational programs
  • Must have experience in programming setup & execution operations
  • Must have knowledge of recreational/facility management software programs
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving negotiating skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have verbal and written communications skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours)
  • Must possess current CPR/First Aid certifications or must be willing to obtain them within a specified period of time
  • Experience coaching/teaching both youth and adult sports

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation sports management or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in high-performance environments, academies, or professional clubs
  • UEFA Coaching License, or equivalent required
  • Proven success in generating community interests and involvement through sports programming and event planning
  • Experience in youth and amateur sports as a consumer
  • Proven experience in the successful scheduling and programming of multiple sporting events at one location during the same time frame
  • Experience and success in customer service and programming administration
  • Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency
  • Proven ability to evaluate team member performance based on established standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds' waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Facility has intermittent noise
