Job description

Position Summary

Port Consolidated is seeking a highly detailed, Bilingual (English/Spanish) leader for the role of Director of DOT Compliance & Safety. Based on-site at our Fort Lauderdale headquarters, this individual will oversee the development and management of all safety programs to ensure full compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations across our entire Florida footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Oversight: Ensure company-wide compliance with DOT, and FMCSA regulations, including HOS, Driver Qualification (DQ) files, and Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Bilingual Communication: Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, and incident interviews in both English and Spanish to ensure 100% comprehension across the fleet.
  • Multi-Site Management: Travel regularly to various company locations throughout the state of Florida to conduct safety audits, inspections, and training as needed.
  • Audit & Inspection: Lead all internal and external DOT audits. Monitor CSA scores and implement corrective action plans to maintain a "Satisfactory" rating.
  • Policy Management: Maintain and update the Company Safety Manual.

Required Qualifications

  • Language: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required (Verbal and Written).
  • Communication Mastery: Must be an exceptionally effective communicator with the ability to adjust tone and delivery for different audiences—from presenting safety data to the C-suite to coaching drivers in the yard.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years in transportation safety/compliance, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Travel: Must have the flexibility to travel regularly to all company locations across the State of Florida.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in FMCSA/DOT regulations and the North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria.
  • License: Valid CDL Driver’s License and a clean driving record are required for travel.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Fort Lauderdale.
  • Travel Expectation: This role requires a hands-on presence; candidates must be comfortable with regional travel to visit our satellite yards and facilities.
