Job description

Lead. Mentor. Make an Impact.

Our Mission: Quality, compassionate care for all.

Our Vision: Reimagine health care through connection, service and innovation.

Our Core Values: Be Kind | Trust and Be Trusted | Work Together | Strive for Excellence.

Are you an experienced RN ready to grow your leadership skills without giving up bedside nursing?

Unlike traditional nursing leadership positions, our Inpatient Supervisors remain actively engaged in patient care while serving as the clinical leader for their assigned shift. Working alongside a team of supervisors, you'll support unit operations, mentor staff, assist with patient flow and staffing decisions, and serve as a resource during complex clinical situations-all while maintaining a strong connection to bedside nursing.

Perfect for experienced RNs seeking their first formal leadership role while remaining actively involved in bedside patient care.

Whether your long-term goals include Charge Nurse, Clinical Educator, Manager, Director, or Nursing Operations leadership, the SUS role is an excellent next step for nurses looking to expand their influence and develop real-world leadership experience.

Why ACU?

Our Acute Care Unit cares for a diverse medical population, providing nurses with broad clinical exposure and opportunities to develop advanced assessment, prioritization, and leadership skills. As an RN Supervisor on ACU, you'll support a highly collaborative team while helping coordinate care for patients with complex medical conditions and varying levels of acuity.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy fast-paced environments, critical thinking, and mentoring newer team members while remaining actively involved in patient care.

Why Nurses Choose the Inpatient Supervisor Role

  • Lead a shift while maintaining meaningful bedside involvement and clinical practice.

  • Remain actively involved in patient care while building leadership experience.

  • Serve as a trusted clinical resource and mentor for fellow nurses and support staff.

  • Gain experience with staffing, patient flow, operational decision-making, and quality outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely with unit leadership and physicians to support exceptional patient care.

  • Strengthen skills that prepare you for future nursing leadership opportunities.

  • Make a meaningful impact on team culture, employee engagement, and patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

As an RN Supervisor, you'll balance bedside nursing with unit leadership responsibilities by:

  • Coordinating daily patient care operations and staffing activities.

  • Supporting nurses, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members throughout the shift.

  • Assisting with complex patient situations and clinical decision-making.

  • Promoting patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.

  • Serving as a leader during high-acuity situations and operational challenges.

  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the professional growth of team members.

  • Helping create a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered environment.

The Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced nurse who enjoys supporting others, solving problems, and helping teams succeed. You lead by example, communicate effectively, and are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while helping shape the future of nursing on your unit.
