About the Associate Director of Technology & Engineering Role:
BRIC seeks an Associate Director, Technology & Engineering to manage the day-to-day operations of BRIC's broadcast, studio, and IT systems while directly supervising the support staff . Reporting to the Senior Director, Production & Operations, this role ensures BRIC's technology and engineering infrastructure reliably supports BRIC TV, community media, live productions, and organization-wide staff needs.
What You'll Do in the Role:
The Associate Director of Technology & Engineering will be responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as assigned by their manager, the Senior Director, Production & Operations:
Leadership & Team Management
  • Directly supervise the Technology & Engineering team by establishing work objectives and performance standards, conducting performance evaluations, and providing ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Manage team scheduling, workload, training, and day-to-day priorities to ensure timely, responsive, and high-quality technology support across the organization
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise technical staff, Master Control personnel, and freelance technicians
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex live production, broadcast engineering, enterprise technology, and systems issues escalated by the Manager, Technology & Engineering

Broadcast & Media Technology Operations
  • Oversee the daily operation of BRIC's television production studios, control rooms, editing suites, and Master Control
  • Manage program scheduling, playback automation, and HD production workflows across BRIC TV and Community Media
  • Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of broadcast and digital transmission systems supporting cable television, internet streaming, and social media distribution
  • Oversee technical support for BRIC TV broadcasts, community video productions, live events, and satellite production locations
  • Coordinate day-to-day technical activities with cable, broadband, and other broadcast engineering partners
  • Ensure cameras, editing systems, production equipment, content management systems, and related broadcast infrastructure are properly maintained, operational, and aligned with industry standards

Enterprise Systems Governance & Data Management
  • Oversee the administration, security, health, and ongoing optimization of Salesforce, Momentus, and other enterprise technology platforms used across BRIC
  • Establish and maintain user access controls, role permissions, authentication standards, and data governance practices to ensure secure and appropriate system access
  • Monitor system performance, data storage capacity, backups, integrations, and business continuity practices
  • Design and implement workflows, automate manual processes, configure enterprise applications, and improve operational efficiency across departments
  • Oversee testing and staging environments, software versioning, security patches, system upgrades, and vendor product roadmaps
  • Partner with department leaders to identify opportunities to improve business processes through technology solutions and enterprise systems enhancements

Technology Governance, AI & Innovation
  • Develop and maintain technology governance standards, policies, and best practices that support secure, reliable, and effective use of technology across the organization.
  • Maintain and publish BRIC's official list of AI software approved for staff use
  • Evaluate new AI tools and platforms for security, privacy, compliance, and organizational fit before approving organizational use
  • Review, approve, document, and revoke tool-specific exceptions to established technology and AI standards as appropriate
  • Partner with department directors to develop department-specific AI use guidelines and technology standards that support operational needs while maintaining organizational compliance and security
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend strategic technology improvements that increase organizational efficiency, security, and innovation

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Administration
  • Partner with Production, Producing, Media, Operations, People & Culture, Finance, and other departments to support organizational technology, productions, programming, and events
  • Develop budget recommendations for technology operations, monitor expenditures, and escalate variances to the Senior Director, Production & Operations
  • Track, analyze, and report on technology system performance, operational metrics, service delivery, and technology initiatives against established goals
  • Implement strategic initiatives and operational priorities established by the Senior Director, Production & Operations
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve technology documentation, standard operating procedures, disaster recovery documentation, and operational best practices to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across the department

You'll Bring these Skills and Strengths:
  • Relevant Experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years in a technical leadership role at a broadcast, cablecast or media production facility, including staff management
    • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, broadcast and digital transmission systems, and production/post-production workflows
    • Experience with multi-channel content scheduling, playback automation and HD production workflow
    • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendor relationships and competing priorities across overlapping projects
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • SBE certification, or equivalent broadcast engineering credential
    • Familiarity with performing arts and/or public access television spaces
    • Ability to manage digital assets and media checkout platforms, IP-based phone systems and CRMs like Salesforce or similar platforms
    • Experience supporting virtual and hybrid presentations
    • Remote application and hardware access tools

Other Things to Know:
  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $85K - $95K.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office. This is an in-person position, 5 days per week.
  • Benefits: BRIC has a comprehensive benefits package, including: paid time off, 403B retirement plan, gym membership discounts, pre-tax transit cards, medical flexible spending plans and more. BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month, after 2 months of employment.
