About the Practice
Premier's Financial Transformation Advisory Practice reimagines the entire patient financial journey, from intake to invoice, helping health systems achieve sustainable margin improvement through an integrated, enterprise-wide approach. Rather than pursuing isolated fixes, our team works end-to-end across three interconnected pillars that drive lasting financial performance: Revenue Cycle, Managed Care, and Clinical Integrity. Our consultants combine trusted advisory relationships with advanced analytics, automation, and AI to help clients reduce friction, uncover hidden opportunities, strengthen accountability, and improve financial performance across the enterprise.
What You'll Be Doing
The Director serves as a senior leader within Premier's Financial Transformation Revenue Cycle Practice and is responsible for driving client outcomes, developing executive relationships, growing the business, and developing consulting talent. The Director acts as a trusted advisor to healthcare executives, providing strategic guidance on enterprise revenue cycle transformation, operational improvement, technology optimization, and financial performance enhancement.
The Director is accountable for leading complex client engagements, cultivating executive-level relationships, driving business development activities, overseeing engagement teams, and contributing to the growth and evolution of Premier's Revenue Cycle Practice. This role provides executive oversight for projects of all sizes and durations and maintains accountability for engagement quality, financial performance, client satisfaction, and achievement of measurable client outcomes.
The Director serves as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Chief Revenue Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Information Officers, and other executive leaders, helping clients develop and execute strategic plans that improve operational performance, strengthen financial outcomes, and create sustainable organizational change.
In addition to client delivery responsibilities, the Director plays a significant role in business development, practice development, thought leadership, and talent development activities. The Director mentors Managers, Senior Consultants and Consultants, contributes to the development of innovative solutions and methodologies, and helps drive growth across the Revenue Cycle service line. This position collaborates with and develops strong client relationships across all levels of healthcare organizations, including executive leadership, revenue cycle operations, finance, clinical leadership, and technology teams, to achieve transformational results.
Core Expectations
- Maintain utilization targets for client billable projects.
- Create value through executive-level client relationship management, solution development, and implementation leadership.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to healthcare executives.
- Develop and mentor future consulting leaders while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Drive business growth through active participation in sales pursuits, account expansion activities, and new client development.
- Create value for the Revenue Cycle Practice through thought leadership, innovation, methodology development, and practice enhancement initiatives.
- Contribute to Premier's market presence through industry engagement, speaking opportunities, publications, and client-facing thought leadership.
Role-Specific Expectations
Directors within the Revenue Cycle Practice possess extensive expertise across the end-to-end revenue cycle, including patient access, revenue integrity, charge capture, coding, clinical documentation improvement, denials management, billing operations, collections, reimbursement optimization, and revenue cycle technology.
Additional expectations include:
- Serve as an executive advisor to healthcare leadership teams on revenue cycle strategy, transformation, benchmarking, operational excellence, and financial improvement opportunities.
- Lead enterprise-wide revenue cycle transformation initiatives that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and patient experience.
- Drive development and implementation of revenue enhancement, cash acceleration, denial reduction, and cost optimization strategies.
- Build and maintain strong executive relationships with client stakeholders, serving as a trusted and referenceable advisor.
- Lead strategic discussions regarding operating model design, organizational structure, technology optimization, governance, and performance management.
- Apply advanced analytics, benchmarking, automation, and industry best practices to identify and quantify improvement opportunities.
- Develop and enhance revenue cycle solutions, methodologies, intellectual property, and market offerings.
- Sponsor implementation efforts and support achievement of measurable client outcomes.
