Tax and Accounting Manager 

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tax and Accounting Manager leads and manages multiple operations across the accounting and tax practice areas to deliver comprehensive, quality services aimed at minimizing the amount of tax our clients pay while ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role effectively oversees the compliance aspects of accounting and taxation to reduce errors, allowing more time for identifying and implementing strategic planning initiatives that benefit clients' financial positions.

This role will initially be remote. Once the office location is operational, the position will transition to a hybrid work schedule.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Conduct periodic meetings with clients to determine the effectiveness of financial plans and fine-tune the tactics

  • Meetings with the Senior Accounting Assistant to ensure deadlines are met and work is moving

  • Drive all financial management, systems, and controls for clients, including income statements, balance sheets, budgeting, forecasts, and charts of accounts

  • Review reports from Senior Accounting Assistant to deliver monthly financial reporting packages, activity reports, and financial estimates for clients

  • Set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the books monthly.

  • Manage the quarterly/annual budgeting, revenue forecasting, and financial review process for assigned clients

  • Research and complete calls to the IRS and State Tax agencies to resolve notices

  • Complete IRS forms for clients such as 433A and 433B’s and complete EBITA and other special documentation needed by clients

  • Work with other tax relief organizations to provide and update information for installment agreements and audit information to the IRS and State Tax agencies. Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training

  • Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within the timeframe.

  • Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting, and expertise

  • Deliver exemplary customer service through prompt telephone responses, emailing clients, and returning calls within 24 hours. Also, effectively address queries and concerns to uphold client satisfaction.

  • Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns

  • Identify and mitigate tax risks

  • Manage tax compliance process

  • Improve processes by developing best practices for your Senior Accounting Assistant.

  • Manage and coordinate tax audits

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing financial planning, tax planning, and consulting expertise.

  • Review financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, to assist in determining strategies.

  • Manage processes for budgeting, forecasting, and revenue analysis.

  • Lead tax planning strategies, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

  • Develop Senior Accounting Assistants and team members to prepare and submit complex tax returns for both individuals and businesses.

  • Oversee tax audits, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and trainings to align operations with company goals.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and all types of tax returns

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA in Accounting or MA in Taxation preferred

  • 6+ years of US Bookkeeping experience

  • 3+ years of tax experience

  • 3+ years of QBO experience

  • 3+ years of leadership/mentoring skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk using a computer
