Overview
As a Manager, Revenue Accounting Operations at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you will join our high-energy Accounting and Finance team at the intersection of technical accounting and data-driven operations. The Manager of Revenue Accounting Operations plays a critical role in executing and scaling revenue accounting operations, ensuring accurate close, strong controls, and audit readiness within the Accounting and Finance Department reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue. This role has direct ownership of key revenue accounting processes, including monthly close execution, review controls, audit coordination, and data integrity validation within a complex, highly regulated, and data-intensive environment.
Our successful candidate is a collaborative accounting professional who is equally at home in a GL as they are writing a SQL query or stress-testing a reconciliation model. They bring the interpersonal skills to function successfully in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with excellent prioritization, collaboration, and influencing abilities. Our candidate will be comfortable and effective in a rapidly changing environment and will partner closely with the leaders of data, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A, as well as a broad group of cross-functional business teams to provide guidance and support well-informed decisions. This role requires strong communication skills to effectively facilitate information flow between business functions and Accounting and Finance, and to partner with senior leaders.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Systems Ownership
  • Own and manage data flows and system dependencies underlying financial reporting, including source-to-GL traceability
  • Independently query and validate large transaction datasets (e.g., SQL/Snowflake) to support close, reconciliations, and control testing
  • Analyze revenue results and variances, identify trends, and surface actionable insights to leadership
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics to build scalable, automated accounting workflows that reduce manual close effort
  • Identify data quality issues upstream of the GL and drive resolution with technical and business partners

Revenue Close & Controls
  • Own and execute the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP
  • Review and oversee revenue share calculations, account reconciliations, and AR matching results
  • Develop processes for the preparation and recording of required journal entries
  • Maintain process documentation and ensure SOX control readiness as the business scales
  • Ensure revenue accounting practices are compliant with GAAP

Audit & Regulatory
  • Coordinate and manage external audit requests, including PBCs, walkthroughs, and follow-ups
  • Serve as revenue accounting lead for stand-alone state audits and regulatory reviews
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation connecting transactional data sources to reported balances

Cross-Functional & Strategic
  • Support cross-functional initiatives including new product launches, cost of revenue analysis, and ad-hoc accounting requests
  • Partner with senior leaders across data, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A to provide accounting guidance on new business activities

Team Leadership
  • Provide hands-on leadership to a team of revenue accounting professionals, balancing direct execution with coaching, review, and team development
  • Must be open to occasional travel to FBG offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team building

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in revenue accounting, accounting operations, or a related finance role, with at least 2 years in a role requiring direct data analysis or systems work
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to revenue recognition and internal controls
  • Demonstrated ability to independently query and analyze large datasets - SQL proficiency required; experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Experience coordinating annual external audits (PBC management, walkthroughs, follow-ups)
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling and variance analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate data findings into accounting conclusions

Preferred
  • Experience in sports betting, gaming, fintech, or another high-transaction-volume industry
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and close management tools (FloQast, Blackline, or similar)
  • CPA license or active candidacy
  • Experience building or improving automated accounting workflows
  • Exposure to AR reconciliation frameworks, payment processor settlement matching, or revenue share accounting
