Job description

Materials, Purchasing, and Planning Manager
Location: Milpitas, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site Daily
Annual Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
Reports To: Operations Leadership Team
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, highly organized, and strategic Materials, Purchasing, and Planning Manager to join our fast-growing manufacturing and assembly operations team. In this role, you will hold ultimate accountability for our end-to-end material flow, ensuring that raw materials and components arrive and are available on time to meet strict production goals while balancing cost optimization with business targets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the end-to-end material flow, ensuring raw materials and components arrive on time to meet production goals.
  • Balance optimal inventory levels with budget for each quoted product build and overall business targets
  • Manage purchasing, planning, and inventory and will be instrumental in building SOP and adding team members over time to support business growth objectives
  • You will lead the implementation of inventory and purchasing control systems and part of the team to implement a new ERP/MRP system
  • Analyze current materials and component purchases, historical usage as well as future expectations in order to aid in procurement and inventory priorities to optimize product delivery lead times
  • Synchronize supply with demand to minimize excess and prevent shortages.
  • Execute safety stock policies to maintain a steady workflow
  • Evaluate the supply chain and key vendors along with alternatives where it is possible to optimize costs and lead times
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure high delivery compliance
  • Establish cycle count policies and audits to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Optimize inventory carrying costs and manage obsolete or scrap materials
  • Ensure daily parts requirements are prepared hand over to manufacturing
  • Build then coach and evaluate planning and procurement staff
  • Play an active role in daily production planning and management
  • Develop continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and drive operational efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in and leading a procurement, planning and materials planning in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (ex. SAGE) and Material Requirements Planning.
  • Experience establishing KPI's in each area of responsibility along with action planning
  • Experience with assembly business operations and international sourcing is a plus
  • APICS certification or similar is a plus
