Job description

SUMMARY

The Lead Analytics engineer owns the semantic layer (gold marts), certified metrics implementation, dimensional modeling, complex Power BI architecture, financial reporting, Lakehouse Semantic Layer, dataset certification standards, Power BI/Fabric tenant governance authority. This person will be focused on Translating business metric definitions into certified data models, design and maintain semantic layer, architect complex BI solutions, enforce dataset certification standards. BI Architect will play a hands-on role in overseeing the organization's BI strategy, driving the development and implementation of BI solutions to support data-driven decision-making. The BI Architect will work across the organization to understand the business requirements and use their knowledge of BI to design insightful solutions that transform data into actionable insights. This senior role requires a distinct blend of hands-on technical expertise, data architecture oversight, and team mentorship to translate raw organizational data into scalable, actionable dashboards and insights.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand their information needs, create reports and dashboards, and leverage BI tools to enhance data accessibility and usability within the organization.
  • Hands-on semantic modeling, Databricks gold-layer architecture, advanced Power BI (DAX, dataset architecture), dimensional modeling discipline, business communication, accountable for the integrity of certified financial metrics
  • Designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, semantic modeling and dimensional tables.
  • Writing advanced SQL queries in Microsoft Fabric/PowerBI to retrieve data from platforms like Snowflake, Azure SQL, Databricks.
  • Partnering with business leaders to define metric calculations, KPIs and establish a "single source of truth".
  • Overseeing data governance, validation, source-to-report lineage, quality assurance, and documentation.
  • Ensure the effective collection, analysis, and visualization of data to support decision-making processes, identify business trends, and optimize performance across the BI landscape.
  • Manage the design, development, and maintenance of reports using Power BI and other reporting and data transformation tools.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic business decisions.
  • Maintain and improve existing reports that are deemed business critical.
  • Compile and contribute to maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies around data and advanced analytics.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong business and technical acumen to be able to interact with business stakeholders and translate business needs into visual reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in a variety of data analysis tools and data visualization platforms within the Microsoft stack.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
  • Focus on learning to stay updated with the latest data analytic tools, techniques and industry trends.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and liaising with development teams using Agile methodology.
  • Proficiency with Delta Lake, Apache Spark, and distributed SQL query engines.
  • Expertise in data governance, quality frameworks, and metadata management at scale.
  • Performance optimization experience for large-scale analytics workloads.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, data engineering, analytics).
  • Proficiency in creating and managing semantic models and Power BI integration within Fabric workspaces.
  • Experience with Fabric workspace governance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
  • Advanced SQL and PySpark development for data transformation and analytics.
