Job Summary:
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for a Junior Data Analyst/BI Analyst to support their government customer in the National Capital Region. The role involves designing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, integrating data from various sources, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop reporting solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and reusable datasets.
• Create interactive visualizations that communicate KPIs, trends, and operational performance.
• Build and optimize data models using DAX, Power Query, and Dataflows.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, including SQL, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud platforms.
• Manage security, scheduled refreshes, and Power BI workspace governance.
• Troubleshoot performance, refresh, and connectivity issues.
• Validate data accuracy and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
• Develop executive briefings, scorecards, and analytical reports.
• Provide user support and training on dashboards and self-service reporting tools.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
• Monitor dashboard reliability and enforce quality assurance standards.
• Extract and integrate datasets from different sources to establish a unified data architecture, ensuring data consistency.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Advanced experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), Dataflows, and semantic modeling
• Strong SQL and data integration skills
• Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL, and star schema design
• Experience with Azure SQL, SharePoint, Dataverse, and APIs
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the Microsoft Power Platform
• Up to three (0-3) years exp in Dashboard or Power BI
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must have or be able to obtain an active Secret clearance
Preferred:
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks is preferred
• Microsoft PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst certification preferred
• Experience in government or large enterprise environments
